I am trying to track the LITTLE Family on their travels. Land records and marriage records show that members of the family arrived in Wayne Co., IN before 1807 and were there at least through 1850. Some early names were; Abraham, Jacob, James, Jasper, John, and Lewis. Any information from the cemetery listings will be much appreciated. Thank you for your time and assistance. Jim Bellingham WA

Hello, I am new to this list. I am looking for information on: Cornelia Fiske, born aft 1832, probably ca 1840's, in Richmond Indiana. Parents were Charles augustus Fiske and Mary Healy. I am interested in Cornelia's marriage, to Charles N. Thompson, whom 1880 census (see below) says they were married in Indiana. I would like to know for sure when and where they married. They must have moved to St. Louis prior to the birht of their children. Also interested in any info about Thompson, if there is any. Cornelia had a sister 'Emma Caroline Fiske who married and may have died in St. Louis also, but I do not know when. I am making headway on my Brattain line with some great helpers. I have two brothers, William and Lemmons both born in IN. William born 13 oct 1810 and Lemmons born 20 Mar 1850 in Wayne Co., IN. I found a land record for William stating he was William Brattain Jr. in Farmington, Van Buren, IA, where he and Lemmons lived in 1830-1840's. Williams obit states that his father moved from Indiana to Lake Peoria(now Peoria) in 1816 then later they moved to Iowa about 1836. William moved later to Mt. Pleasant, Henry, Iowa and then Mahaska, IA where he died 26 Feb 1889. He married Martha Croxil or Cropstill in 1836 in Farmington, IA and had the following children: Humphrey L., Mary, Lemmons W., May S., and Charles. Humphrey married Cordelia A. Dawson, Mary married Thomas Havener, Lemmons W. married Caroline Seeker, May married William M. Burton and George Beechler, Lemmons moved from Farmington to Polk, Adair, MO in 1860, to Eden Decatur, Iowa in 1870's, to Lindley, Mercer, MO in 1880's where he died in Mercer Co., MO or Pleasanton, Decatur, IA on 15 Mar 1885. He married Sibyl Cooper 6 Apr 1865 in Van Buren Co., IA. He had the following children: Stephen? , Nancy Catherine, Georgianna, William Thomas, Emma Jane, Lemmons W., and Mary. Nancy Catherine married Joseph Wheeler, Georgianna married John J. Eastin, Emma Jane married William or M.F. Richardson, Lemmons W. married Mary Ann Hawthorne. I have a lot of information besides this to share. Betseylee Browning(Mrs. Deven K.), 4301 Daisy Dr., Mt. Green, UT 84050 dbrown@webpipe.net , 801-876-2524,

I am seeking info about a cousin named DOROTHA L. (DOTTIE) RUSH b:Sept. 24, 1886 I surmize in Darke Co. I don't know when the family moved to Richmond but I know they were there. Her sister Marguerite Jane married Everett Henry Engelbert and I don't believe her other sister MABEL BLANCHE RUSH ever married. One of these 3 sisters communicated with my mother in the late 1970's or early 80's about the RUSH family in Darke co OH. I thank you in advance for any help on finding: 1. Did Dottie Marry? To whom? When ? Where? 2. Did she remain in the Wayne Co. area? 3. Is she buried in the area? Thank you !! Jim in Darke Co. OH sjd@erinet.com

Dear Wayne County List, I have some information on my WILSON family. But I'm not sure where to turn next. I have some documentation for them in Wayne County: Daniel Henry WILSON married Delilah TAYLOR 17 Dec 1868 I have some info about their son (my great grandfather) James Delanor (maybe "H") WILSON that says he was born 1 Jan 1873 in either IN or TN. I am leaning to IN as his birthplace. I do know that he died in Franklin, Warren, OH 9 Nov 1928 (husband of Clara Mae NOBLE, married 1898) I don't have much more for the WILSON's. Is anyone researching that family, or can lend me a hand in which direction I should go? Jenny Hamblin __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Search - Faster. Easier. Try the library's newspaper index: http://www.mrl.lib.in.us/webpacj/webclient.html From there you can make a list (max. 10) and the librarians will send you copies. Hi, I am new to these lists because I have just found a link to a long lost family member, if I could only find an exact date of death for them. If I could prove the link it would almost increase my family tree by fifty percent in size (Not that I need any more research to do!). I am looking for information about Gus/ Augustus Garrett, who died in 1948, and for his wife, Cora (Conklin) Garrett, who died in 1935. I have tried calling the health departments of Wayne & Fayette Cos. with one not able to find a record and the other not having the time to look, and the only genealogy of which they are a part has no more information to offer than the years of death. In 1880 Augustus Garrett was in Fayette Co., Ind. In 1930 Gus and wife, Cora, were in Wayne Co., Ind. I know fore sure that the 1880 Augustus Garrett is a member of my family tree. I would like to prove that the 1930 Gus Garrett in Wayne Co., Ind. is the same person as Augustus of 1880 (There is a potential flaw in the 1930 census that leaves some doubt, and that is info about the birthplace of the father of Gus). Would anybody have any death indexes, burial indexes, or cemetery indexes that could be checked that would tell me in which county Gus and Cora Garrett died and were buried? I would appreciate any hints, tips, or suggestions. Thanks for reading this far! Philip Naff Indianapolis, Indiana

If anyone can help please email me at debradclark@att.net Looking for John Milo Patterson and Deliliah Beeson, (son of ) Patterson and Christianna Lamme who bought land T15, R13E, Sec. 3 in Wayne Co., IN in 1811.
Sabina, I think I have your answer. From "Vital Records From the National Intelligencer, 1834" I found these items. pg. 214 BALL, Mrs., wife of Nelson BALL, was killed by lightning Aug. 7 at Newport, Indiana. and pg. 39 HULL, Mrs., wife of Jehiel HULL, died in Newport, Indiana Aug. 7. Even though the dates are slightly off the dates on the tombstone dates of Aug. 13, 1834, I think your answer is that they were struck by lightning. While working on New Garden Cemetery, we came upon a mystery that we would love to solve and hope someone out there can help us with. We found the stone of three women Martha Hull, Charlotte Hull, and Esther Ball. The stone is mostly readable, but there are some parts that we can not make out. I assume that Martha Hull was the daughter of " J. & P. Hull", Charlotte may have been the wife of Jehiel Hull, though I can not actually read the words "wife of" on the stone. Esther Ball was the wife of Nelson Ball. The mystery is that all three women share a stone and Martha's inscription and Esther's inscription reads "Was killed by ______". We are unable to make out what killed these women. We are wondering if it was a contagious illness that they all caught or if there was some type of accident. All three died on August 13, 1834. We would love to know what the ! inscriptions say. We have been working on this for some time and have not been able to find an answer. If anyone is connected to these women or may have a clue as to why they died, we would love to hear from you. Thanks, Sabrina Benner

Heather, What surnames are associated with your family and/or grandfather? Shirley ----- Original Message ----- From: XHeatherTn@aol.com To: WAYNE_IN-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, April 20, 2003 9:37 PM Subject: Thomas HI Everyone. I was going through some old boxes of my grandmother's (in the hopes of finding some pictures of my family) and came across two pictures.....One of a man and another of a young child (perhaps 3-8 years of age, I believe female) They were professionally framed but I was able to pull out the glass part enough without damaging them and on the child's it says "Han JR Thomas Richmond Indiana 1861" written in pencil. The man appears to be of the same family just because I see some similarities. If anyone has any information regarding that name please let me know. I was thinking maybe it was short for Hannah but I really don't know. Thanks, Heather
