    1. Reunion CD Questions & Answers
    2. Karen Creamer
    3. Randy and others, I believe most genealogy programs create a true "gedcom" file, as well as some other formats. Family Tree Maker, for example, has ".GED" as one file type it will export. That's what I want...a .GED file. If we'll all do it in that format, most any genealogy program will be able to read it. It doesn't matter to me whether the file includes only Franklin County lines or someone's entire database. It would save space on the CD if only the Franklin lines were included, but a lot of people might not know how to do that and wouldn't send their file because of it. I'd rather have to make 2 CD's than to have somebody left out! So the short answer is...if you know how to create a .GED file with only your Franklin County lines on it, that would be wonderful. Otherwise, send your whole file. The $5.00 will cover our direct expenses, I think. We're not trying to make any money from it. If we need more, we'll ask! Thanks for your thoughts. I hadn't considered asking people to split out Franklin County from their databases, but it's a great idea. Karen -----Original Message----- From: Randy Klemme [mailto:randyk@webworks2000.net] Sent: Sunday, July 18, 2004 1:57 PM To: franklincountygenealogy@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [Franklin County, IN Genealogy] Franklin Co Pioneer Reunion CD Karen.....what format should the gedcom file be sent? I know many of the family history programs will spit out various file extensions and I am sure they will need to be uniform for easy access. The other question is should the gedcom be strictly Franklin County family lines? This is going to be a major undertaking and I am not sure $5 is going to be enough to cover the costs... 1. Franklin Co Pioneer Reunion CD
    2. Karen Creamer
    3. Here's the deal about the CD: I am going to take all of the gedcom files submitted to me and burn them onto one single CD, then make copies of the CD. Everyone who receives the CD will get all the gedcoms that are submitted by August 29th, but I will appreciate your sending them by the 15th if possible so I can get started. The $5.00 reservation fee for the reunion will entitle you to a copy of the CD and a printed list of surnames and researchers. If you can't attend the reunion but want a copy of the CD and list, please send me an email to that effect. We would hope that you will also send your gedcom file for inclusion on the CD, but it isn't a requirement. For simplicity's sake, and to cover the costs of producing and mailing the CD and list, the charge will still be $5.00, even if you aren't able to attend. I hope this answers any questions you might have had. Please email me directly if you need more info! 2. Karen Creamer
    3. Re-send of the email sent yesterday by Barb Kuykendall (barbkuy@evansville.net) The First (Annual?) Franklin County, Indiana Pioneer Reunion is becoming a reality! Plans are being made. The dates are October 8-10. We plan to share information, visit cemeteries, get to know each other, and just have fun. Plans are not set in stone yet, but, since this is the first time we've done it, we're going to keep it simple. In early August I will be sending out a registration form. Sue Otte will be sending T-shirt order forms, too. Karen Creamer has offered to combine everyone's gedcoms on a CD and have them ready to give out at the reunion. This is a time consuming task and she can't wait until late August to begin. Even if you don't plan to attend the reunion, if you have ancestors in Franklin County, we'd really like to have your information. We'll mail the CD to you. The directions for sending in your gedcom are printed below. (Sorry, but Rootsweb doesn't accept attachments so you'll have to make up your own form.) If you don't want to send a gedcom, please list your surnames in the space provided. Sending your GEDCOM file or surnames - all this info is required: 1. I need your Name, Mailing Address, Phone Number and Email Address. 2. I need the name of the GEDCOM file you're sending, so I can keep you attached to your file. 3. I need a list of the Franklin County surnames contained in your gedcom. (If you're not sending a gedcom, just give me a list of Franklin County surnames you're researching.) Please send your gedcom as an attachment to karenc@thepoint.net by August 15th. Include the above info in the body of your message. Thanks! Karen Creamer Connersville, IN

    3. This subject matter is very intriguing to me! Regrettably, I can offer no assistance to Kim but am hoping someone can check to see if perhaps the home of my gr-grandparents and/or the home of my gr-gr-grandparents might be on this historical list. As far as I know, they weren't on the list at my last visit to the area. I never lived in the area so I am relying on my memories of my visits. My gr-grandparents home, where my grandmother and mother were born, sits on a corner lot on SW Johnson St, next to where the railroad tracks once ran. (my Mother remembered being "switched" by her grandmother for being down at the tracks). My gr-gr-grandparents' home was across the street their son and daughter in law's home. But I can't remember if their home was East of South of them. My gr-gr-grandfather, Solomon Custer, owned a grocery store. My gr-grandfather, Benjamin F. Custer, was a barber. Solomon's parents are Paul & Mary (Garver) Custer. All five generations, including my Mother, are buried at South Lawn Cem. Jo jo.kester@comcast.net If anyone can assist Kimberly or had family ties, please write to her at annek1898@hotmail.com Hi Mike, My name is Kimberly (Johnson) Pillon. My family on my dad's side has lived in Dublin, IN for about 75 years. The historical society in Wayne County has made my grandparents house a land mark. I am doing research on my family and will be up there at the end of May. I was wondering if there was a specific place I can go to, to do some search or if you might know anything about my family. They live in Dublin, on Franklin st. My great-grandfather was Peter Johnson and died in 1930's from gas in WW1 and is buried in Wayne COunty cemetary, but his death was not in indiana, it might have been in ohio on a job. My great-grand father cecil baker died early too, he was a part of the indiana militia. Any info you have to places to go would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Kim
