They also lived in Union County, I believe and then went on to Owen County and they were in Putnamville when my grandmother Knoll was born in 1852. Thanks so much. Joan in Parke Co. 3. I am interested in any connections to this name. My husband's gg grandfather, Lewis Guthrie settled in Connersville and at one time we had the name "Sarah McLain" as the name of his wife, which has not been proven. He was from Shelby County KY and married his first wife there. Interestingly, the McLain name is very common in that county. I'm interested in any speculation or ideas on any of these people and those areas in KY and IN. 3. Hi I am still trying to 'nail down' the ancestry of Jane McLANE/McCLAIN who, on 13 Jun 1838 married David LYKINS (shown as LYKINGS in the records). For a long time I believed that, her father was Archibald MCCLAIN of Wayne Co. and later Delaware Co. IN. I am now not so sure. I am seeking any marriage records that might list her parents. I have a copy of their marriage certificate but it does not give any of that information. Did IN require any kind of bond or license at that time? Thanks Tom

    1. William Roosevelt, Eula L. Ramey and other Rameys in Richmond, Indiana
    2. Hi, I'm trying to locate any information about William Roosevelt Ramey and his wife Eula L. Ramey. This couple lived in Richmond, Indiana for many years, at least during the 1950s, 1960s, and early 1970s. However, I do not know where they came from or where they went when they left Richmond about 1971 or 72. I could not find a death certificate or obituary for either person. I do not know whether they had any children. This William Roosevelt Ramey was a cousin of my grandfather Elbert Homer Ramey b. about 1897 in Washington or Scott County, Virginia. I have been trying to find out who Elbert Homer's parents were or to find anything about his family. William R. Ramey seems to be the only link that I can find. Here is my site with a photograph from 1952 of this William (Bill) Ramey, his cousin Fanny Ramey Barker and her brother Melvin Oliver Ramey. In the accompanying Palladium Item article my grandfather Elbert Homer Ramey is mentioned. Does anyone know anything at all about any of these people? http://www.tribalpages.com/tribe/browse?userid=shasta4737&view=63&pid=328& photoindex=0 Any help would be greatly appreciated! Sincerely, Susan E. Davis

A bright young life, rich in the promise of future blessings, has been taken and hearts that beat high with the hope of years of association have been left sad and desolate. Yet the Heavenly Father who feels and knows all human heartaches, has promised to wipe away all tears and to restore the loved one to our arms again in a brighter and better world. Rowena, daughter of Alonzo and Lula McShurley, was born in Sulpher Springs, Indiana March 13, 1904, and after what seems a bery brief stay, passed to her home beyond, July 13, 1921, aged 17 years, 4 months. A sister, Cophene, preceeded her in death, dying in infancy. At the age of three years, her parents moved to their present home near Millville. She began her school life at the old Shellbark school house, and after its abandonment, finished her common school work at Millville. She was intendsely interested in her school work and in spite of illness which caused her to miss almost two years of her common school, graduated and continue her studies in the New Castle High School for two years longer. It was her earnest intention to continue her studies futher, but an all-wise providence has prevented. Always bright and intelligent, her sunny disposition and ability to win friends endeared her to the hearts of her teachers and fellow students. She was ever bedieent to the slightest wish of her parents and thachers. She was prone to remember only the good in others and never seemed to speak of their shortcomings. She was faithful in her attendance at Sunday school and often expressed her faith in her Redeemer. Always bright and cheerful, even in affliction, her genial disposition won for her a host of friends who feel their loss keenly. She leaves to mourn her departure a heart-broken father and mother, a grandmother, Mrs. Sallie Smeltzer, several uncles and aunts, and a host of other relatives and frineds. She has fallen asleep, She is resting at last, The pulse has grown still, And the fever is past, She suffers no longer, In heart or in brain, And the pain that so racked her, shall not come again, She has fallen asleep, O, Mother, 'tis past; Thank God as you weep, She is resting at last. 3. Would anyone have the 1910 or 1920 Wayne Co., Indiana census. I would like to know where Martin Lundy and wife Pearl Smeltzer came from. At some point an older lady, Sally Smeltzer (Sarah?), presumably Pearl's mother, was living with them in Jackson Twp. a mile or so just off of St. Rd. 1, out of Hagerstown. I wonder if the three of them came from Grayson Co., Va. or a nearby county. Patience
