    3. Hi Listers, I've just gotten information that Marcus and Maria Graff are buried in the Lutherania Cemetery located on old Rt. 27 or Liberty Pike at the south edge of Richmond. I have never been to Indiana and I don't know much about it. Could someone tell me what town that would be in and if the cemetery is still active. The information came from Beverly Younts Cemetery Records of Wayne County. I'm also looking for an Eli D. Graff and a John P.C. Graff. Any help would be appreciated......Pat Graff Saemmer

    3. Hi Listers, I'm new to this list and I just found one of my Graff's in the 1870 census in Wayne County. I hope someone can give me more information. Paul Graff, age 34, is listed as an American Express Agent with his wife Laura, age 28, son Marcus, age 3 and daughter Mariah, age 10.     3. Eunice Bartlemay was born in either Miamisburg, Ohio, or Pennsylvania in 1824. She moved to Wayne County, Indiana with her family (I think) and married Henry Brown. Henry died in 1849 from a Cholera epidemic. They lived in Boston, Wayne County, Indiana at this time. Eunice and Henry had at least one daughter that I know of, Matilda Ann Brown. I can't find any Bartlemays on the 1850 census in either Indiana or Ohio.(but I know they were there). I know that Eunice had a sister, Susan, born in Pa. She married Robert Russel in 1835, Wayne County. Susan later married Joel Sharrits in Miamisburg, Ohio and they are on the 1850 census with a daughter, Mahala. Eunice came back to Ohio, because in 1851 she married William Ryan, and Joel Sharrits gave permission for this marriage. Matilda Brown later married William East. Both Eunice and Matilda can't be found on any 1850 census that I have looked at. I think that Eunice and Susan also had a brother named Joseph. He married Caroline Goldman in Indiana, same day and year as Eunice Bartlemay married Henry Brown, March 5, 1843. I did find Joseph on the 1850 census, Miamisburg, Ohio living with Caroline and their son, Joseph, he was a hotel keeper. I found that going through every page of Miami Twp. on ancestry.com, so I wonder if they missed Eunice and Matilda somewhere, too, or if the name was misspelled (I have seen it Bartelmay, Bartelmy, Bartlmy, and many other ways.) If anyone else is researching these families, I'd love to hear from you. William Ryan, Eunice's 2nd husband, served in the Civil War and I have his pension records which gave me most information here. From Eunice's death cert, I learned that her mother's maiden name was Mary Hillard, and she was born in PA. The father's name and birthplace was unlisted, but it may have been Lewis. The informant on the death cert was Lewis Ryan of Dayton, Eunice and William's son. There is also a Bowman connection, as well, as a daughter ! of Eunice and William married Abraham Bowman.     3. hi betty i missed out on the information sent before, if you would outline it for me??? meanwhile i did some poking around in ancestry.com, familysearch.org, and genealogy.com. in the census: 1820 george springer is in wayne co, indiana with: 1 0 0 01 0 0 01 0 0 0 0 1 (and none after that last one) i did a search for the two surnames, Rowley and Raleigh, in this census for Wayne county and there were none of either, my thinking was perhaps one of those names would be nearby indicating which one it might be. a search for Nicy with both surnames brought nothing i thought connected, even tried just first name Nicy in all of indiana with again nothing that worked for me. in this 1820 census, on the same page as George, in this order were other springers: matthew, stephen, george and job. there is a george w. springer who married a jane conway 8-8-1841 in union county indiana a george springer married eleanor mattingly 9-2-1819 in perry co indiana assume someone sent you quaker information and that's where you got his birth year. i found the following in quaker information via genealogy.com: vol. i, page 514, new garden mm had stephen and sarah springer with children freelove (dau) b 6-14-1787, george b 7-12-1789, job b 9-2-1791, barnabas b 1-9-1793, abigail b 1-12-1796 and matthew b 3-13-1778. vol i, page 792 had the family again listed in new garden mm with addition of more children: elizabeth b 4-9-1800, stephen b 5-21-1802 and a death for stephen of 8-21-1805, sally b 8-23-1804 and william b 11-29-1809 in the 1830 census for wayne co and springers there were: dennis in new garden, barnabas, george, matthew d. and william in wayne, wayne co, indiana george springer was on page 46, roll 29 and had: males: 0 0 1 1 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 females:1 2 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 in 1840 there was only one george springer in 1840 and he was in jennings twp, fayette co, indiana. page 104 roll 79. males: 0 0 0 0 2 1 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 females: 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 several george's in 1850: brownsville, union co page 295 roll 176 -- this george estimated birth year was 1814 warren, marion co, page 368, roll 159 -- estimated birth year of 1834 lawrenceburg, dearborn co, page 272, roll 141 -- estimated birth year of 1848 orange, fayette co, page 258, roll 144 -- he appears to be son of Lorenzo Springer age 35 farmer born indiana, wife rachel age 29, son george age 10, thomas rees age 7, margaret rees age 8, viola rees age 6 and amanda springer age 1. would appear this was a 2nd marriage for both of them with rachel having married a rees previously. in my search for just the first name nacy i came across these which might prove interesting to research: Nacy Shelly age 50 in 1860 was in jackson, elkhart co, indiana -- she was born NC Nacy Stephens/Stevens age 55 in 1860 was in Jackson, Owen Co, indiana. -- she was born NC looking at these perhaps that George died and Nacy remarried? through the LDS site i found the following: george springer born 1834 (see 1850 census, marion co) was son of emmanuel springer and mary hash. emmanuel was born 4-30-1802 in PA. george w. springer b abt 1847 in rush co indiana (see 1850 census above, dearborn co) married hannah addison 10-30-1872 in rush co. george washington springer born 3-4-1845 in indianapolis married philetta victoria adams 7/1870. i found your old query for samuel springer b 1814 in SC and came across information at ancestry from a Pat Scott whose email is listed as <patricia_95667@yahoo.com> and should still be good as pages last updated dec 2004. show has Nicy's maiden name spelled RAWLEY and has her born 12-27-1791 in NC, also has children from George and Nicy listed. karen in CA >Hello again, >For those of you that offered lookups for George Washington Springer b1789. >I have a question about his wife; Nicy Raleigh/Rowley. >If you see the name of her father and the original spelling of her name it >would be most appreciated. >We think she was born in NC.     3. I have pictures of tombstones from Concord MethodistCemetery, an obscure cemetery in Wayne Co. The cemetery is a hard one to find and it was all overgrown. I am having a hard time reading the pictures. The tombstones are for: James BAKER Ann BAKER Lydia C. BAKER Abner BAKER If someone could help me with the inscriptions I sure would appreciate it. Also if someonr could tell me if Catherine, Margaret, Caroline, James H. and Joseph L. are buried. The men would be BAKERs the women would have married, but their maiden names wouls be BAKER. HI Hope this helps According to Encyclopedia of Quaker Genealogy, Vol I, Deep River Monthly Meeting, Page 837 On March 4, 1811 a George SPRINGER was disowned by the Friends at White Water MM which was located in Wayne Co. IN. No reason was given. He appears to have been the son of Stephen SPRINGER and Sarah MACY who were married New Garden MM on Nov 23, 1786. Stephen was listed as the son of Edward and Freelove SPRINGER of MA. Shortly after George was disowned, his sister Freelove was disowned (Nov. 4, 1811) and his brother Job was disowned (August 1, 1814. Encyclopedia of Quaker Genealogy, Vol I, Deep River Monthly Meeting, Page 792 It lists the children of Stephen and Sarah SPRINGER and their children along with their birth dates. It says that George was born July 12, 1789. He had 5 brothers and 4 sisters. George was the second oldest, with his sister Freelove being born in 1787.     3. These past weeks have been spent putting together a list of Interesting Places To Visit in Delaware and all the surrounding counties. I've separated that from the Campgrounds list, which will also be added to soon. Help putting this together has come from all corners and there are too many people to thank for their contributions. You know who you are and you're hugely appreciated. I hope to get some mortuaries on board and will be attending a meeting this weekend to try and get some great organizations (i.e. DAR, SAR, etc.) to join us. These records other then the bare info never become public knowledge... My story: John G. Gilpin marries Mary Ann Graves... I have all information on the Gilpin downwards to present.. I have info on the Graves for 2 generations above Mary Ann Graves... No information on John G. Gilpin. Reciently, I was told they were married by a catholic missionary.. 1850.. The state recorded marriage gives no information on either, other then they were married... Trying to find information on the Gilpin I needed contact points with in the Catholic Church.....
