He was the son of John and Nancy A. Owen Martin. John was born in IL and Nancy was born in IN. John and Nancy met and married near Ormanville, Wapello County, Iowa, and three of their children were born there. They moved west to Washington Territory where Clay was born and then moved to Oregon. Clay's siblings were Monroe, Samuel, J. Crittenden, William, Serilda, Ada, and Rosa. There may have been more. John Martin's parents were James and Rebecca Martin of Pickaway County, Ohio and later Davis County, Iowa. Nancy A. Owen Martin's parents were Samuel and Margaret Chance Owen, last living in Wapello County, Iowa. I'd appreciate any information about Clay Deen Martin or any other members of this family.
