Dear List, I recently joined several Eastern Washington lists as my first great grandfather's siblings as well as himself seem to have come up there from the Mid-Willamette Valley of Oregon. I was just rummaging through a pile of old reference papers and came across the "Last Will and Testament" of my second great grandfather Solomon King. Solomon was born in Ohio and married Annie Mariah Allen (his brothers widow) who was born in Massachusetts on November 20, 1853. The possible marriage location was Benton County, Oregon Territory (Oregon became a state in 1859). This couple had six children the oldest Anna Marie was born according to the records in June 1854. Annie is listed as married and living near her parents in the 1870 US Census for Benton County. She gives her husband's name as Doc Kinder. In the will dated February 7, 1912 Solomon says that his daughter Anna Kinder is deceased then goes on to name three children DOCK KINDER aged 30 years, SOLLIE KINDER aged 38 years, and LUCY (KINDER) STARR aged 36 years. All are noted as living in Waitsburg, Walla Walla County, Washington. Do any of you kind souls have the census for those years? Is their father living and if not when and where did ne pass away? Approximately when did their mother pass away and where? Are any of their living descendants as hooked on genealogy as I am? Did the children stay in Waitsburg? I have been working on the six children born to Solomon and Annie and have just completed the lineage of Anna Marie (King) Kinder's brother Abraham Lincoln King. Another brother Elias Summer King had been living in Lincoln County, Washington however by the time the will was written he was married and living in Forsyth, Montana with three children. William Y. King was married and living in Harney County, Oregon, Scott King was living in Corvallis, Benton County, Oregon, and Lucy (King) Kiger was living in Albany, Linn County, Oregon. I have also recently joined the Walla Walla County "L" list so those of you on both lists this note will show up twice. Thank you in advance. -- Daniel David Lewis Frommherz Come visit my web site www.McKenzieValleyMarket.com please write and tell me what you think of it.
