Large enough that it impressed even the Shoshone Indians after they attacked the Adams train, which was ahead of the Kennedy train by some distance. John K. Kennedy (wagon master); surnames list includes the names Kennedy, Allison, Stoots, McGuire, Neeley, Ellis, Caviness, Ewing and Thiel. Kennedy was at Baker, Oregon for a short time. John Kennedy married Sarah McGuire Stoots, who was the widow of John Stoots of Wapalo, Iowa. John had been married to Sarah Steele and had two daughters by her. These girls were, Rhoda Ann Kennedy who later married Samuel G. Ellis. The other daughter was Mary Elizabeth Kennedy who later married Alfred L. Allison. It says that Elizabeth and Susan had a double wedding ceremony. Sarah McGuire Stoots Kennedy had three daughters by her late husband, John Stoots.
