Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5BC.2ACE/962 Message Board Post: I am trying to help my dear friend locate any surviving half-sisters. He was born in October, 1945, to Fredrika Horst of Ellensburg, Washington. His mother, now deceased, told him his father's name was Bill Laird, and that he was a Washington State Greyhound Bus Driver who was married to another woman and had at least 5 daughters. My friend's mother was introduced to Bill Laird by her brother, Marion Coombs, who was a friend of Bill's. Recently my friend was diagnosed with colon cancer, and he'd like to get word to his half-sisters that they may be at risk for the disease, if they haven't been tested. We have tried writing to all of the Washington State Lairds we have found listed in the phone book, but we haven't had any luck finding a relative. It is difficult, because the Laird sisters probably all married and no doubt have different last names. I am thinking someone might have gone to high school with the Laird girls, and, if so, we might be able to figure out what town ! they lived in, and go from there. My friend learned from his uncle Marion, now deceased, that Bill may have had one more child, after the five daughters, probably another daughter, but this is uncertain. We also know Bill died either in the late 1960s or early 1970s, possibly in the Tacoma area, and he may have served a prison term at Walla Walla. Any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated! Also, does anyone know of any newspapers in Washington State that offer public forums where we might post a similar query or any online Washington State Yearbooks from the 1940s/1950s? Or are there any other genealogical approaches you can think of that we might try? Thanks in advance, Simone Smith HatsAndHandFans@Yahoo.Com
