I will check into the newspapers in Lowden, if any. All that was listed on Ancestry.com was that my great grandfather died in Hill, Walla Walla County, Washington. I have sent for his death certificate....hopefully that will have more details as to the actual town. My grandmother was left on the doorstep of the Sacred Heart Church in Calumet, Michigan (Upper Pennisula) in 1902. In 1902, having a baby out of wedlock was shameful. Upon my grandmother being placed at the church, her mother was sent to Arizona by her mother to live with a sibling. David D. Smith is the father of my grandmother whom we know to have died in Walla Walla, Washington per depositions given in the estate proceedings from 1953 when the natural mother died. David was a ticket agent for the railroad in Calumet as well as in Walla Walla, Washington per Census information. I would really like to have his obituary as we know so little about him other than the fact that he was my grandmother's natural father and that he worked for the railroad. But with the town name of Hill....not sure what paper it would be in.

Surnames: NOBLE Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5BC.2ACE/983 Message Board Post: The Goldendale Sentinel, Goldendale, WA., March 12, 1936, page 1 WALLA WALLA MAN IS FOUND IN COLUMBIA The body of a man identified as Roy K. Noble, of Walla Walla, missing since December 30, was discovered last Wednesday floating in the Columbia river at Big Eddy, three miles east of Northdalles. Elliott Palmer, Indian, made the discovery of the body as he was searching for driftwood nearby, reporting it immediately to the sheriff's office. Prosecuting Attorney C.W. Ramsey and William Chapman, undertaker, left for the scene, and assisted in extricating the body from the water. This required some time due to the fact that it was caught in a growth of weeds out from the shore. A search through the effects of the dead man revealed his name and address, and his occupation as manager of the Colyear Motor Sales Co., Walla Walla. No marks of violence were apparent, and no money was found on the body which was reported to be well-clothed. Later in the evening, after the remains had been brought to Goldendale, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney A.J. Gillis and Clarence Hawk, deputy sheriff, arrived from Walla Walla and identified the body by various tatoo marks. It was impossible to take fingerprints because of the condition of the hands. According to the Walla Walla men's statement, Noble had either jumped or fallen from the bridge over the Snake river near Walla Walla on the night of December 30. His car was found on the bridge with the engine running, all the lights turned on, and the seat still warm, as though there had been a recent occupant. The deceased was 37 years of age, a World War veteran, and, according to the Walla Walla officials, had been drawing a salary of $160 a month at the time of his disappearance. No reason, other than bad health, could be given up for the possibility that he had committed suicide. He is survived by a wife and two children. The remains, when brought to Goldendale were sealed in an air-tight casket, and were shipped to Walla Walla for burial. This was posted for reference only. I am not related to, nor am I researching this family. If you have additional information about what's mentioned above, please post it as a reply to this message.

    3. Hello list, In 1912 my second great grandfather Solomon King named his grandchildren in his will as Sollie Kinder aged 38, Lucy (Kinder) Starr aged 36, and Doc Kinder aged 30 all were living at Waitsburg, Walla Walla County, WA. They are the children of I believe Richard "Doc" Kinder and Annie Marie King born about June 1854. I thought that I finally had them when I looked at the 1900 census however it turned out that the families I thought were mine were not but could be related and were living in Columbia County, WA. The birth dates were just a little off just by a couple of years but enough. Can anyone help me with the census or other vital records to help me find them for real this time? My grandmother, Bertha Scheiber was in a sanitorium in the 20's or 30's. I don't know how to find the institution or if they published lists of patients. Any information you have would be appreciated! Thank you, Leslie DeWitt
