The Scott family I am researching is that of John and Mary (Edwards) Scott from Ohio who settled in Walla Walla in spring of 1863. So many Scotts-almost as challenging as following the Smith line. I appreciate your effort in getting back to me. Leslie

The book I am refering to is a book about the decendents of Joseph and Sarah Scott that came to Wallowa Oregon from St. Cloud Missouri. Josephs father was a John Scott and I dont have any information about his sibling. I would bet there had to be a John. I will do some digging and see if I can come up with his brothers names. Sorry I couldnt be more help. If we connect I will send you what I have about the family before they came to Oregon.

    1. Prescott, Walla Walla Co.
    2. My father, Robert Waggoner, was born to Elba McGrew and Virgil Waggoner in Prescott 1n 1915. His grandfather, Mansfield McGrew, had a general store there at the time. My great-grandfather had a large family, eight children, of whom seven lived to adulthood. Mansfield and his wife Susan Yockey were married in ILL, and came to the Walla Walla area between 1888 and 1890. Mansfield started out as a teacher, but ended up running a store (hard to raise seven kids on a teacher's salary). At least six of his daughters ended up as teachers. My questions are--does anybody remember this family? And how big was Prescott in 1915? I know from my father's stories that his grandfather's family moved back and forth between Walla Walla and Prescott, and that his own family moved more widely. Virgil Waggoner was a civil engineer, building bridges and roads. So they moved all over the NW, ending up in Seattle. During the Depression, Elba and Virgil opened a ma-and-pa grocery store in Seattle. People gotta eat. Thanks for any info anybody can provide, Doris Waggoner Seattle

Surnames: HAWKS, HENDRICKS, HENDRIX, STUBBLEFIELD Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5BC.2ACE/1052 Message Board Post: I'm hoping to find the obituary (if available) and the cemetery location for Robert Elmer Hawks who died in Bakersfield, CA 24 Aug 1941 and was removed for burial in Walla Walla I believe. Robert was married to Jennie A. (unknown) at least between 1896 - 1910. I believe that Jennie may have died in Washington and Robert remarried to Mary Tempa Hendricks/Hendrix by about 1920. The 1930 Census of Butte Co. CA lists Robert as having a step daughter Goldie P. Stubblefield. I presume that Mary was married previously to unknown Stubblefied possibly born in Missouri. Any help you might give would be greatly appreciated. Ginger
