My grandfather, Joseph Czekaj died in Lena, WI in 1922 and according to his death certificate was buried in Spruce WI, August 19, 1922, in the cemetery at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. The spelling of his surname on the death certificate at that time was CHECKI. So I imagine the name on his tombstone is Checki. My question is: is the above named church in Spruce still there, and if it is, can I possibly get a record of his burial? The undertaker's name that handled the services in Lena was Fred Klimish.
