Some information on this publication, based on a search of the library catalog for the State Historical Society of Wisconsin (SHSW): - ------------------------------------------------------------- I believe the correct title of the publication is "Commemorative biographical record of the upper Wisconsin counties of Waupaca, Portage, Wood, Marathon, Lincoln, Oneida, Vilas, Langlade and Shawano, containing biographical sketches of prominent and representative citizens, and of many of the early settled families." It contains 1110 pages. It was microfilmed by the SHSW in 1996. It was apparently again microfilmed as part of the "Old Northwest" series in about 1972 (this may actually be the same filming, just made part of this well-known series of county histories). The Wisconsin State Genealogical Society published a 97 page index (compiled by Mrs. Bailey W. Sturges) to the names in this publication in 1980. The book was reprinted, in two volumes, just last year by Brookhaven Press (LaCrosse WI); one might be able to borrow a copy of the reprint via interlibrary loan. Rollie
