Thanks for all of the responses to my question about how I should handle the misspelling of my Rasmussen ancestors on the Wisconsin Death Index and the unfound death certificates. I did call the Dept. of Health & Family Services today and this is what I was told by one of the supervisors: 1) I will need to resend the information along with a copy of the letter they sent to me. 2) I will need to submit another $7 for the subsequent search. 3) I will need to wait another 2-3 months for the death certificate to arrive. 4) I could find someone who frequented the Department, give them the letter and a copy would be issued on the spot. So, here's my question... is there anyone on the list who already has plans to go to Vital Records in Madison and would be willing to obtain a copy of the document for me? No search would be required; only to present the letter & the correct spelling of the name. I would send a check & a copy of the letter directly to the list member so no money would need to be advanced on my behalf. Please excuse my forward approach in this matter. It's frustrating to learn that I will need to wait another 3 months after waiting 3 months for this information to arrive. Many thanks... Linda Emerson Twain Harte, CA
