Boy, it's amazing how your memory comes back in bits and pieces when your tracking down family members. I recall that I had an aunt (Marie BOETCHER) who I last saw in an nursing home in Weyauwega. This was back in approx. the late 60s early 70s (?). Is there anyway that I could track this. My cousin Charlene BOETCHER (adopted) put my aunt in this home when my uncle and ggrm died. I'm hoping that maybe if I wrote the this nursing home they would be able to send me some information on my aunt. Thanks for any help or suggestions you may have. :-) Debi

Hi Everybody! I am pleased to announce that LuDeanne Guenther is the new County Coordinator for the Shawano County WIGenWeb site, as of today. LuDeanne graciously agreed to accept the job and, having a great research interest in the county, I'm confident she'll do a terrific job! (Probably better than me!) ;-D Check out what she's done to the pages at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wishawan/ I'm keeping Oconto County, so I'll still be around. And, of course, I'm here to help our new "baby CC" with anything she needs. I'd appreciate it if everybody would be as helpful & friendly to LuDeanne as you have been to me. Especially at the beginning, she's going to need all the assistance she can get. Please Welcome our newest CC. (Ooops! Now I have to go into GenConnect & switch it to her. Now where did I put Vickie's instructions...) Happy Hunting! Karen, Fort Howard Cemetery is in Brown Co., just outside of Green Bay. It's a *very* large & old cemetery. If you want to find a headstone, you'll need to know what section they're buried in. To get that, you'll either need to call the cemetery offices, (I don't have the #) or check the cemetery indexes done by the Bay Area GS. Happy Hunting! Please forward all replies to : furham@evansville.net ********************************************************* I am searching for information on Josephine Franklin Fuhrman. I am trying to locate information regarding a farm that used to be in my family. It is in Symco and I remember visiting it when I was a child. We used to visit my aunt, uncle and gr-grandmother. The farm would have been under one of the following names: LEICHTFUSS, LIGHTFUHS, LIGHTFOOT. From my recollection, it was a large farm (approx. 200 acres?) before pieces of it got sold off. Any information you can find would be helpful. I did check with the land office in VA but they have no record of it. :-)

Would someone be able to tell me when people were required to get social security numbers? I've been trying to locate some family members but seem to be coming up with blanks. I'm not sure where else to look if I can't come up with anything in the SSI. THANKS :-)
Hello everyone and a thank you to all who responded. However, I made a typo on the date 1995. It should have been 1895. Sorry. >From my grandfather down I have all the descendants down through the third generations. I have made contact and I am waiting for the updates. My grandfather spelled the name La Meres. Not to many La Meres. I am tracing my ggrandfather through census and birth of his children and his marriages hoping I can get closer to the spelling of how the original name was spelled in Canada. But so far no luck. I searched twice in Canada, and they do not have a birth record of William La Mere. So, I am open for suggestions on how the name would be spelled in French. In the US the name was spelled as it sounded to whomever was doing the recording. Thanks again to Paul, Ruth, Nancy and Bob. If I left anyone out, thanks to them also. Etta
