    2. Not sure why this happened but I did send a letter to E-bay officials explaining the nature of selling possible stolen property. They responded by saying that they had recieved several letters on the subject and that the "authorities" and CNN were also in contact. Sounds like a group effort to me. Someone must have received a message. All of the gravestones for auction now show invalid number. Did any one do the obvious and notify authorities? Gloria

    1. [WauShaOcon-L] Oconto Township Offices
    2. All, Does anyone have a list of the Oconto Township offices (addresses and phone #'s). I am trying to find where township cemetery records, and records of private (family or church) cemeteries that have been "turned over" to the township, are kept to post on the Oconto County GenWeb Site. My phone bill is astronomical so if anyone lives locally and can spare the time to call for me, the Cemeteries I am missing the records addresses for are at the net address below. Please write anything you come up with directly back to me so as not to clutter the List. Thank You! Rita Address for Cemetery Page: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wioconto/cemetery.htm

    3. Hi! Have you tried looking up their entry in the Germans to America Volumes? That would give you the date of departure from whatever port, date of arrival in whatever port, who traveled together, where they were from, what their destination was. Once you receive that you can order a copy of the passenger list from the National Archives. http://www.nara.gov/ will give you more information than I could in this message to you. Also try searching out any naturalization papers for him. That will give a bit of information about him also. The National Archives would have information on this topic also. *IF* he has a SS#, you may try getting a copy of his SS-5, (application for a SS#). Being that he would have had to filled it out, it would have the most correct information on there for him such as place of birth, date of birth, parents, etc... It will also have his signature on it. Since SS#'s were not required until some time later, this is a shot in the dark, but worth it. Hope this information helps you. -- Cindy Johnson :0) NEW SITE! 1. [WauShaOcon-L] Spruce, WI Cemetary
    2. My grandfather, Joseph Czekaj died in Lena, WI in 1922 and according to his death certificate was buried in Spruce WI, August 19, 1922, in the cemetery at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. The spelling of his surname on the death certificate at that time was CHECKI. So I imagine the name on his tombstone is Checki. My question is: is the above named church in Spruce still there, and if it is, can I possibly get a record of his burial? The undertaker's name that handled the services in Lena was Fred Klimish. Joseph's grandson, Stanley, who died in the Korean war in 1950 is also buried there. Thanks a lot for any help, Roy Czekay, URL: http://members.aol.com/rczekay

    2. Hello, Now that the Towns and Churches have a good start on the Oconto County GenWeb Site, thanks to the very kind and generous folks who have and are still sending in information, I am asking for help with updating the Cemetery Page. I have many names and the city or townships that they are in and general location of the actual cemeteries, but need the ADDRESSES for making contact about records. All Catholic Cemeteries (old and new) are now covered by the Diocese of Green Bay and that will be on the page, but the rest are hard to track down. Some are religious, and some secular, and they are not necessarily in the yellow pages. Please send in any information you have (you will receive credit) on contacting the cemetery agencies to Rita: Zorblitz@prodigy.net To see the other pages go to: Churches http://www.rootsweb.com/~wioconto/churches.htm Towns http://www.rootsweb.com/~wioconto/towns.htm Thank you.
