I have just now read that there was a college in Waupaca. Can anyone tell me what kind of college it was? Was it possible to study to become an engineer there? How many years did you have to study to become one? Were there many Norwegian students there? Are there any available sources from where I can gain information about this college? Could there exist list of students from this college? I hope someone is able to help me, Dag Album Oslo, Norway

    1. [WauShaOcon-L] West Allis location
    2. Hi, West Allis is in Milwaukee County. My husband was born and grew up there. It is just west of the city of Milwaukee and experienced a population boom in the late 1800's and early 1900's due to large factories companies such as Allis Chalmers, which built homes and recruited families from Europe, especially Poland and Germany/Hungary. There are of course many other nationalities represented in the population (just a bit of history). The Wisconsin State Fair is also in West Allis, a national motor race track, and the US Olympic Speed Skating Rink and will have a nationally televised truck racing event there this coming weekend in case you would like a peek at the place on TV (I don't know what channel, sorry). Hope this helps, Rita I have relatives in West Allis (Stan & Ann Robley). Is this town in one of our three counties? Just curious... thanks. Linda

    1. [WauShaOcon-L] Wi. County sites
    2. **Cindy Johnson**
    3. Hi everyone! Thought I would remind you that there is a site that holds some information on all the counties in Wisconsin. You can find the page at: American Local History Network - Wisconsin @ http://www.usgennet.org/~alhnwius/WI_index.html Once there scroll down the page and click on the button that says County Topics, then just click on the county you are interested in. You will also find tons of topics on the State Topics page that don't fit into specific counties. If anyone has a site to add to the ALHN WI site, I would appreciate hearing about it. And if you have a Wisconsin site of your own, please let me know and I would be more than happy to link to it! -- Cindy Johnson :0) NEW SITE! 3. Linda, Price County is still in existence. It is is the central part of the state north of Taylor County, my home county. On my site, I have several links dealing specifically with county topics. The main address to the site is listed below in my signature. Here is a direct address to the Price County information.
