Waugh who married a Malinda Rutherford about 1838 in Georgia. He was a merchant. The family moved to Macon COunty, Alabama about 1843. He died sometime between 1860 and 1870. William and Malinda had children: Margaret b abt 1838 (m. Wm C Bower) Elizabeth William Laura Minnie b abt 1847 (m. Simmons) Roger I am trying to confirm where WIlliam came from in Scotland. I believe his father to have been Robert son of WIlliam Waugh and Mary Hiddleston from Nithsdale Scotland. They are buried in Dunscore cemetery. There is a story about RObert in a book called something like Dumrfieshire Worthies. The story mentioned that RObert had a son in the US that sent him money and Robert went out to join him about 1848 to some place called Gavannah ( which I think was Savannah). I also came across passenger list for a RObert age 70 aand a Elizabeth Waugh age 39 to New Orleans in 1849. Does anyone have any information about the origins of this William of Georgia and Alabama.
