Mr. Waugh is very popular in Lincoln, as well as in this city, and his selection to the position will be very pleasing to his friends in this city. It is expected that he will be here Friday eve to referee the basket ball game between the Plattsmouth and Council Bluffs High school teams: "Waugh is widely known as a basket ball and foot ball official and until lately was as well known as a basket ball player. Besides his High school experience, he worked a number of seasons with the Y.M.C.A. squad when it was steam rolling everything in the neighborhood and a few outside teams. Work kept him from making the Cornhusker team, but he played with the freshmen there. "Members of the team know his ability and they are perfectly satisfied with the choice of the athletic board. Sam was an admirer of Stehm's basket ball ability and for that reason the team may get along without too much of a break in their playing methods. "Waugh expected to work out with the team Tuesday afternoon, being anxious to get as early a start as possible for the Kansas game of Friday. The salary to be paid was not made public."
