How wonderful to hear from a Waugh from the branch of Joseph Waugh and Mary Boggan! I have done lots of research, and got some great help along the way, and I have my/our Waugh family linkage back to England as early as a marriage in 1689! My own personal research got back as far as 1803, but through connecting with a third cousin. who is living in Montreal, and who had been doing genealogy since around 1990, she shared with me what she had got by writing to registration offices in northeast England. So that's how I got the older info. Your Great-grandfather Joseph, was a brother to my grandfather, Philip. Your g-grand died sometime before 1930, as your g-grandmother, Mary is listed as a widow on the 1930 US census, living on Commonwealth Ave. (The rest of the response was emailed direct, but if anyone has any connections to the family Waugh from Newfoundland, or Newton or Boston, Massachusetts, or Rhode Island, or Rumford, Maine, please contact as we are likely of the same family!)
