If your Waughs came from Gallia, OH ... then we are definitely related - or you are related to my husband. The Waughs in Gallia are from John Waugh b. 1790 who married Augustine Duduit... one of 13 children of Guillaume Duduit, one of the French Five Hundred who were given land in Ohio by the Congress - deeds signed by President Thomas Jefferson. It's a fascinating story to have in your family history. This was the French Revolution version of buying swamp land in Florida. About 500 French Revolution refugees - they must have been wealthy and afraid of the revolutionaries - bought land in America from speculators who sold them worthless land grants in France, got them on ships for this country and then disappeared with their money. Instead of being landed gentry in Colonial America, they found themselves on the edge of the frontier, facing deprivation and Indians. Guillaume made a name for himself by becoming a famous shot, feeding and protecting his family and others. Karen -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Kenneth it would be WONDERFUL to have this information. I had a computer crash in July of 2005 and I am beginning to realize just how much recent genealogy information I have lost. Thank you SO much, and please show me how your line is related if you don't mind. I don't think I have anything on Augustine's children other than William.
