Deborah, Don't know if this is a coincidence. See what you think. Hugh Stuart WATT aka WATTS, b. 1805, formerly of Scotland, came to America with a brother whose name I've never been able to find and who, according to family legend, settled either in the "South" or in Canada. Also according to family legend the two were related to James (Steamengine) WATT and their father's name was John (he's the one who told the boys that if they added an "S" to their name - WATT to WATTS - not to come back to Scotland). Hugh Stuart WATTS married to Rhoda DORSET in New York City on July 29, 1827 according to a family bible and had three children: John WATTS, b. August 16, 1831 in NYC Henry WATTS, b. August 14, 1833 in NY, NY and Catherine Maria WATTS ELDRIDGE, b. May 1, 1837 in NY, NY. John WATTS and his wife, Fannie MAC DONALD b. August 25, 1837 in Buffalo, Erie County, NY married in New York City on May 8, 1860 and had four children, one of whom was named John Henry WATTS, b. August 2, 1864 in New York. John Henry WATTS and his wife, Florence Carew, had two sons, one of whom was named John Henry WATTS II, and it continues down the line. One of my uncles, John Henry WATTS, is helping me research Hugh Stuart WATTS' line. I have a copy of my Great Grand Aunt Cecilia Letitia WATTS' (1861 to 1953) diary and she mentions many names of relatives and friends. As she lived in New York City and Brooklyn, I might be able to find some of your names. I know I've seen them before but don't know if it was in the newspaper articles I found or where. I'll let you know what I find in the diary asap. Here's Hoping Karen Watts High Deborah Goodman wrote: > I am searching for information about my great grandfather.
