I am searching for information about my great grandfather. I think his middle name is Harry or maybe Henry. J.H. Watts, as he was normally called, was born July 8, 1842 in Erie New York (I don't know if Erie is a city or county area). His family moved to Fergus Ontario Canada in 1844 where his father died, believed to be James Watts. J.H.'s mother was believed to be named Julia. Julia may have moved to Otterville Ontario Canada after her husband's death. J.H. and a sister Elizabeth returned from Canada to Michigan where J.H. enrolled in the Michigan Calvary to fight in the Union Army during the Civil War. Other relatives mentioned in newspaper clippings found in the family Bible include "Brothers and sisters" 1. Ann Watts 2. John V. Watts; his children are believed to be a. Vina Louise Watts of New York City b. Jesse Watts of Walsh c. Dr. Fred Watts of Port Hope, Michigan 3. Mary J. Watts died of typhoid had a son named Arthur Petit; believed born Jan. 26, 1866 in Seincoe, Ontario, Canada 4. William Z. Watts 1st marriage Eleanor Taylor; 2nd marriage Eliza B. Lynes William was born in Fergus, Ontario Canada; he lived in Winnipeg Canada his children were a. Mrs. William Daig of St. John New Brunswick, Canada b. Mamie Watts of Toronto, Canada c. Bell Watts d. Myrtle Watts William lived with Mr. E.D. Eillson after parents death 5. Nellie Watts married a Harding 6. Elizabeth Watts married a Ham in Texas 7. Jesse Watts of Walsh., Michigan J.H. Watts married Lorena Oyler on Nov. 5, 1868 in Dowagic County, Michigan. They moved to Mt. Ayr, Indiana then they moved to Texas. They both died in Texas. They are buried in the Watts family plot.
