It also seems like there should be a relationship between ISRAEL WATTS and RICHARD WATTS, who was also in BUTLER CO., OH. Israel witnessed some deeds for Richard and his wife, ELCE (we think this was ALICE). I am following the DEWEESE line, rather than the WATTS ancestors, but would like to know who ISRAEL'S parents were. We were finally able to find some of Israel's descendants, but there are still children with names unknown to us: ISRAEL WATTS & MARY DEWEESE First Generation 1. ISRAEL WATTS was born estimated 1787 or 1788. ISRAEL died 12 Jul 1859 in Johnson Co., IN, at 72 years of age. His body was interred in Edinburg, Blue River Twp., Johnson Co., IN. He married MARY DEWEESE in Butler Co., OH, 14 Nov 1809. MARY was born in Kent Co., DE circa 1785. MARY was the daughter of JOSHUA DEWEESE and ELIZABETH NEW . MARY died after 1860. Conflicting evidence states that ISRAEL was born 1 Aug 1789. He was listed on three deeds as a witness in 1813 in Butler Co., OH. All three properties were located in S22-T2-R4, sold by RICHARD WATTS and ELCE [ALICE] his wife. He bought property from WILLIAM REED and Rebeckah his wife, bound by land of Adam Dickey, in Butler Co., OH, 1813. He and Mary his wife, sold property, Middletown Lot 20, in Middletown, Lemon Twp., Butler Co., OH, to JOHN SHAFER , 1813. ISRAEL registered to pay taxes in Preble Co., OH, 1816. ISRAEL was listed as the head of a family on the 1820 Census in Harrison Twp., Fayette Co., IN. He migrated from Fayette Co., IN to Johnson Co., IN in 1821. ISRAEL was elected as associate judge in Johnson Co., IN, 1823 and served until 1830. ISRAEL kept a store in Edinburg, Blue River Twp., Johnson Co., IN, in 1825. ISRAEL was elected probate judge in Johnson Co., IN, 1830 and served in that position until 1837. ISRAEL was listed as the head of a family on the 1830 Census in Blue River Twp., Johnson Co., IN. Besides his family, there were two young men living in the household that are too old to be his children. ISRAEL was listed as the head of a family on the 1840 Census in Blue River Twp. (?), Johnson Co., IN. ISRAEL was listed as the head of a family on the 1850 Census in Blue River Twp., Johnson Co., IN, pg. 115-A. No estate was found for ISRAEL in Johnson Co., IN, but a deed record found in Deed Book W, page 281-282, dated 26 Apr 1860, names RICHARD L. WATTS as administrator and names his widow and heirs. ISRAEL WATTS and MARY DEWEESE had the following children: 2 i. DAUGHTER WATTS was born in Butler Co., OH circa 1811. DAUGHTER died sometime before 1862. She married ( ) THRELKELD estimated 1830. 3 ii. SECOND CHILD WATTS was born in Preble Co., OH circa 1814. She|he died sometime before 1862. 4 iii. ISRAEL R. WATTS was born in Preble Co., OH circa 1817. ISRAEL died 1848 probably in Johnson Co., IN, at 31 years of age. He married ELIZABETH DUNHAM in Johnson Co., IN, 30 Aug 1842. She married WILLIAM P. ASHLEY in Johnson Co., IN, 30 Oct 1851. 5 iv. MALE(1) CHILD WATTS was born in Fayette Co., IN circa 1820. He died sometime before 1862. 6 v. MALE(2) CHILD WATTS was born in Johnson Co., IN circa 1822. MALE(2) died before 1862. 7 vi. ALICE ANN WATTS was born in Johnson Co., IN circa 1824. ALICE died Feb 1850 in Blue River Twp., Johnson Co., IN, at 25 years of age. She married CHARLES BAY in Johnson Co., IN, 18 Apr 1844. CHARLES was born in Kentucky circa 1820. He married HARRIETT F. after 1850. 8 vii. RICHARD L. WATTS was born in Johnson Co., IN circa 1826. He married twice. He married JANE SUTTON in Johnson Co., IN, 21 Feb 1847. JANE was born in Johnson Co., IN 26 Dec 1827. JANE was the daughter of JACOB SUTTON and ABIGAIL DOTY . He married SARAH J. estimated 1868. RICHARD was listed as the head of a family on the 1880 Census in Osgood, Center Twp., Ripley Co., IN. 9 viii. FEMALE WATTS was born in Johnson Co., IN circa 1829. She probably died before 1840 since she was absent from the 1840 census. 10 ix. SARAH J. WATTS was born in Johnson Co., IN 23 Jun 1832. SARAH died 8 Sep 1851 at 19 years of age.
