The following is a partial listing of Watts from the SC Roster of Patriots. If there is any interest in this material, I will copy the rest of the list. GEORGE WATTS b 11 Jan 1762, hanover Co Va; d 4 Jan 1835. Married Mary B. Walker 21 April 1789. While residing in Ninety Six District (SC) he enlisted during Sept 1779 and served as a private and sergeant under Capt Wm Davis and Col Williams. He was in the seige of Ninety Six under the command of Col Washington. Nest, he was under Capt Samuel Moore and Lt Joseph Reed. He was in a skirmish with "Bloody Bill" Cunningham and escaped by swimming the Saluda River. Thereafter, he was under Capt Robt Maxwell and Gen Pickens and marched into the Cherokee Nation, (Moved to TN) AA8278, 0150. ******************** DAVID WATTS, b St Thomas Parish, SC Enlisted in April 1776 under Ensign William Alveston, Lt Andrew Hasel and Capt James Akin and was stationed at Ft Moultrie. In the fall of the year this unit was reorganized and he was placed under James Butler, Lt Edward Thomas, Capt John Roger Pinckney, Maj Thos Mahan and Col Hugh Horry. He was in the Battle of Ft Moultrie and the Seige of Charleston. Next he was under General Francis Marion and was in the Battle of Quinby Bridge, and in skirmishes with Tories at Browne's Creek, Biddow's Bridge, and Black Mingo. He was also in the Battle of Eutaw Springs. S18267 ************************ George Watts, b Bedford Co Va, d 12 April 1834. Married Barbara Compton, 1780. He was drafted while residing in Fairfield District under Lt Thos Otterson, Capt John Winn, Col Joseph Kershaw, and Gen Richardson. He was in the Snow Campaign. His next tour was after John Winn became a colonel and Otterson became a captain. Next, he was in the Third Regiment under Ensigh William Caldwell, Lt Oliver Tolls, Capt Richard Winn and Col Thomson. He marched to Florida and qas taken prisoner. After three or foour months, he was exchanged and he returned to serve until the close of the war. At sometime, he was a lieutenant under Capt Thos Parrott. (Moved to GA) AA8278, U423. **************************** GEORGE WATTS served in the light dragoons under Capt.Jacob Burnett, Col Henry Hampton, and Gen Thos Sumter during 1781. AA 8278, M281 ******************************** Edward Watts served in the Fifth Regiment under Capt Jervis and was in the militia in 1780 and 1782. At some time he served under Col Winn. AA8277, Y859.
