He was a slave of a man called by his son the old Dutchman.He married MARY WORK in Rocky Mount, NC. They had 10 children Robert Watts bought his freedom and tried to buy the freedom of his family. I only know of my great great grandfather, JULIUS ROBERT WATTS, b. March/04/1852, Rocky Mt, Edgecomb, N.C.; d. October/02/1918, Springfield, Il.. He was born an slave and ran away in about 1860 and fled to Cario, IL. He married FANNIE PATRICK November/23/1881 in Springfield, Il., daughter of HENRY PATRICK and MATILDA DAWSON.
