    1. [WATTS-L] WATTS and GRAHAM Families
    2. Hi everyone, I'm looking for parents, more information on, etc. for Will WATTS and Martha GRAHAM. They may have been from Oklahoma, (Don't know which county) or even from Texas. They married before 1902, and were the parents of Ernest, Walter Lonzo (my grandfather), Joseph, and Anna Lee WATTS. Going by my grandfather's obituary, Martha may have had a relative named Wesley GRAHAM. He was one of my grandfather's pall bearers. (some of the other pall bearer surnames are COGBURN, AIRHART or AIRBART, PATRICK and ADAMS.) According to family legend, Will was Cherokee, and may have comitted murder. I haven't been able to prove either, and have broadened my search to include the possiblity of Melungon heritage. (I bear many of the physical characteristics.) I'm told that Will died in Texas, but again, I don't have a specific location. My father has said that he remembers visiting Will on a reservation, but I never got a chance to ask him the specifics... At some point Will and Martha's children relocated to Putnam County, TN without their parents and married into/associated with the families of the area. My grandfather married Allie Mai HARP, and I know he and Anna Lee frequently visited the LANE family. In fact my uncle Alonzo Leon WATTS married a granddaughter of that particular family, Joyce LANE. They also may have been aquainted with a CARDWELL family. Any infomation or help on this family would be very much appreciated. 1. [WATTS-L] My Watts Line
    2. Don Spaulding
    3. Hello to all Watts Researchers, My name is Judy Spaulding of Rancho Cucamonga , California. Our city is best known for our minor league baseball team called “The Quakes”. Yep, the mascot is called…Tremor! My parents are Tommie McGOUGH and Opal Lee (WATTS) McGOUGH of Walker County, Alabama. Opal’s parents: Walter Ellis Watts (1873-1967) and Mary Ida “Tinsey” (PAIR) Watts (1876-1939) of Winston County, Alabama. Walter’s parents: Levi WATTS (1829 –aft 1904) and 2nd wife Elisabeth D. (CHILDERS) WATTS (widow Hunter). Both list born in Georgia and married Dec 19, 1867 in Blount (now Cullman) County, Alabama. They are listed in 1880 Cullman CO AL Census. Together their children were: 1. Sarah “Sallie” Watts b. 1868 m. 1st Jim SCREWS and 2nd John O. MOORE. Sarah had no children. 2. Thomas H. “Tom” Wattsb. 1869 m. Florence E. “Lorene” BARNETT and together they had 9 children. 3. Walter Ellis Watts b. 1873 m. Tinsey PAIR and together had 13 children. 4. Arthur Henry Watts b. 1876 m. Ella Lee HOWELL and together had 10 children As this was 2nd marriages for both my Great Grandparents, I have been able trace back to their first marriages. In 1852 Levi Watts married Malissa McGlathery in Blount (now Cullman) County, AL. Before Malissa passed, together she and Levi had the following children: 1. Matilda Elizabeth Watts b. 1851 m. Montgomery J. “Gum” CULVER and moved to TN. 2. James C. WATTS b. 1855 may have married in Cullman CO AL Amanda M. -------? Not sure as a different James C. Watts in Cullman CO is claiming Amanda as part of their family. 3. Louisa “Jane” Watts b. 1860 m. George W. CHANDLER. 4. Julia Watts b. 1862 and may have married Columbus VanBuren McCAIN in Cullman CO AL but some other WATTS family is claiming their Julia Watts married McCAIN in 1880 so am unsure. Julia’s second child Claude’s father was Tom Chandler. Julia died when Claude was very young so Claude was raised by Levi and Elisabeth WATTS and is listed with them in the 1900 Morgan CO AL Census, along with Elisabeth’s sister Nancy CHILDERS. The last record I show of Levi Watts was selling land in 1904 to A. H. Watts in Winston CO AL, after Elisabeth’s death in 1902. In Winston CO AL 1896, I found a land deed leaving land to “Levi Watts, Survantus Watts, and Jacob V. Watts as heirs to the estate of David Watts, deceased”. Am not sure if David Watts of Winston CO AL is—sibling or father? In 1850 Blount Co AL census, Survantus and his wife is living with Head of Household Ellis Watts (aka Rufus or R. E. Watts) and his wife with a John Watts, age 65. As Watts researchers, I am you are aware of the frustration searching through the MANY (!) WATTSes including the numerous John WATTSes! Both Survantus Watts and Jacob V. Watts were known Confederate Soldiers in the Civil War. Levi was a Minister of the Gospel so may have served in the Home Guard. I have been trying to find a John Watts or a David WATTS living in Georgia but so far have found none that seem to match…..sniffle-sniffle. Or a Levi Watts? Or even a James Watts as that was the name of his first son and Levi followed the naming pattern closely for his daughters so figured he might follow by naming his first son after his father. More questions than answers……..
