    3. Hi Cliff, I have just picked up the "Dickson,Dixon" Genealogy Book from my mother. Her father was William Harlan Watts, from Knott Co. KY, I have e-mailed you before re: him. I have just learned from her that her G uncle Thomas Watts lived in Wash DC (maybe Maryland). If you are interested let me know and I will go thru and see if I can locate your Thomas Watts. 1. [WATTS-L] WATTS IN SCOTLAND CO MISSOURI
    2. Dennis, Linda Miller
    3. Ellen Watts (aka Eleanor or Mary)(born about 1832) married John Green, 1 May 1856, Scotland Co MO. It appears they moved around a lot. Family is found in Jasper County, MO, 1860, with children James W (age 3) and Alice (age 2 months). Their third child, my g grandfather, John Martin Green, told that he was born in Pulltight, Missouri, 1862. (Historical society advises me this was a sawmill town also known as Middle Fabius) The 1870 Scotland Co census index shows these names in 1870, but I have not been able to get to a full census record yet. Ellen had brothers: James Ashabald Watts (born 1835. Indiana), Allison or Alonson Watts (born 1843 Indiana, and listed with Ellen in Jasper Co 1860), Joseph (born 1846 and traveled to Wyoming with Ellen and her children probably shortly after 1870, then on to Oregon). One sister is shown , Alica A (born 1840, Indiana). I know there are several Watts buried in Scotland Co, MO. Does anyone have in connections to any of these people listed? Linda Miller, [email protected] (Oregon)

Lee's Boyhood Home was CLOSED to the public after 30 years as a museum. The Lee-Jackson Foundation SOLD it to a multimillionaire couple as their private home, NOT open to the public. The sale was totally secret until it was a "done deal".The house was never publicly on the market, and the millionaire buyerasked the Foundation to keep the sale confidential. The purpose of this website is to spread the word about this heritage outrage and mobilize support to maintain the museum for the public. Won't you take a moment, visit the website and. if so inclined, place your name on the petition lending support to VA.'s Atty. I believe these are my ancestors and am hoping that someone has these people as lost souls somewhere in their databases or records. My NED WATTS was born [se he says] in either SC or TN ~1804-1814. It appears by the appearance in Henry County in 1830 [I have to go back and look at Henry and Dale Counties for 1840 & 1850], Ned's migration to Covington in 1840 [with an elderly lady in residence], back to Coffee in 1850 and then settling in Monroe 1860, is that his path was lateral moving West, then East and finally, West again to Monroe. I know I've seen land records in both Henry and Dale and believe there are some WATTS folks recorded in 1840 & 1850 in these counties. Today was the first opportunity I've had to get into the Library and the census films in many months. Hoping to hear from someone. Kaye

    1. [WATTS-L] Samuel WATTS/Elizabeth AYER(S)
    2. Judy McIntyre
    3. I'm very new to this particular list so the question I'm going to ask may have been addressed previously. Was Samuel WATTS, who was born 1650 in Haverhill(?), Massachusetts, married to two different Elizabeth AYER(S)? The first marriage was October 28, 1684 in Haverhill, Massachusetts to Elizabeth AYERS, daughter of Thomas, who was born 1659 in Haverhill, Massachusetts. The second marriage was March 8, 1696-7 in Haverhill, Massachusetts to Elizabeth (Ayer[s])CLEMENT. This Elizabeth was born 1652 in Haverhill, Massachusetts and was the widow of John CLEMENT. I think I have the above Elizabeths in the correct order. Any information would be greatly appreciated, and I'm always happy to share what I have. Regards, Judy McIntyre

    2. Gordon A. WATTS
    3. Greetings All: Subsequent to my e-mail of 16 March regarding this subject, and a few fast emails back and forth, I received the following from Ms. Mary Ledoux of Statistics Canada. Mr. Watts, I spoke to Dr. Van Loon and he indicated that there is no truth to the communication you received that the report of the Expert Panel will be presented shortly. The target date of the end of May 2000 remains the same. Therefore, your submission is welcomed. Mary Ledoux This is welcome news to those of us who have been working on submissions to the Panel but have not yet sent them. While Ms. Ledoux makes reference to the target date at the end of May 2000, this is the date the Panel is to submit their report. Deadline for submissions to the Panel is 1 May 2000 but I would not waste time if you intend to make a submission. The Panel requires time to review our submissions and to compile their report. 1. [WATTS-L] Report of Expert Panel on Historic Census may be early.
    2. Gordon A. WATTS
    3. Greetings All. This afternoon I received a communication that indicated that the report of the Expert Panel on release of Historic Census records will be presented "SHORTLY" rather than waiting until the mandated date of 31 May 2000. I have sent an e-mail to Dr. Pamela White, secretariat of the Expert Panel, expressing concern that if this is so, many submissions that have not yet been sent, including my own, would not be received and considered by the Panel. The original deadline for submissions, as given me by Dr. White, was 1 May 2000. I have asked Dr. White to respond IMMEDIATELY advising as to the current status regarding presentation of the report of the Expert Panel. I will advise her response. If there has been no email response from her by morning I will be telephoning her. The upshot of all this is, if you have not yet sent your submission to the Expert Panel, DO IT NOW!!! Gordon A.
