Hello, I have just received a lengthy (and rather expensive) letter from the Somerset County Council setting out several WATTS connections. At first glance, none of these seem related to my WATTS, but I thought I would share them with the world, maybe someone can get some use: "the following children of William and Mary Watts were baptised at St. Decumans: 1831 Elizabeth 1833 Mary, 1836 Henry, 1839 Alfred, 1841 Wentworth, 1845 Alice. The following children of Joseph and Elizabeth Watts were baptised at St. Decumans: 1837 Thomas, 1839 Elizabeth, 1842 Elizabeth, 1844 Mary. children of James and Mary Watts at St. Decumans Joseph 1814, Ann 1812, James 1817. 5 WATTS entries on the 1851 census of St. Decumans, Joseph and Elizabeth Watts and a range of children aged 8 down to 1 all born at Watchet. 4 entries at Old Cleeve, Mary Jane Watts born Watchet Charlotte Watts aged 19 born Old Cleeve. There are WATTS entires in the 1851 census returns for the following parishes near Watchet: Carhampton 179, Crowcombe 616, Dunster 160, 165, Monksilver 680, 683, 684, 686, Nettlecombe 308, Stogumber 634, 644, 646, 648, 668, Stogursey 524, 530, 552, West Quantozhead 580, Wiveliscombe 62, halse 397, 401, Stockland Bristol 78, Berrow 364, Burnham 340, Bridgwater 75, 131, 189, 190, 257. Removal order for an Elizabeth Watts and family from Easton in Gordano to St. Decumans in 1826. There are additional cites and fiche numbers if any of this is of interest to anyone. I am still trying to piece it all together and may sit down to do a time line. Maybe I can find a connection. I wonder......how many people actually were in Watchet during these years. Since these are actually the names I'm looking for.....what are the odds that so many people had the same names during this same time period? Patti Felton pjfelton@pacinter.net

Hi, I am a new subscriber to the Watts list. Does anybody recognize this family? MARY DEWEESE, daughter of Joshua Deweese and Elizabeth New, was born in Kent Co., DE circa 1785 or a little later. She married ISRAEL WATTS in BUTLER CO., OH, 14 Nov 1809. It is believed she migrated to Butler Co., OH, from Monongalia VA(WV) about 1807, with her brothers, Samuel and James Deweese. >From Mikesells, Butler Co. OH Land Records, Vol. 1: 1803-1816 we find 2 deeds involving Israel Watts: 1813 - William REED & Rebecca, h/w to ISRAEL WATTS. (no S-T-R given); bound by land of Adam DICKEY. Signed: William REED, Rebeckah (X) REED. Witn: David MULFORD, William HARVEY. rec. 1814, Bk. D, pp 215,216 1813 - ISRAEL WATTS & MARY, h/w to John SHAFER. Middletown Lot 20. Signed ISRAEL WATTS - MARY (X) WATTS. Witn: Isaac ROBY, Job MULFORD, rec. 1813, Bk. D, pp 50, 51. >From the same source we find Israel witnessing 3 deeds for Richard Watts and Elce, his wife: 1813 - Richard WATTS & Elce h/w to Emma QUICK, wid. S22-T2-R4 - Signed Richard (X) WATTS, Elce (X) WATTS. Witn: Platt B. Dickson, ISRAEL WATTS. rec 1813, Bk. D, pg 36, 37, 38 1813 - Richard WATTS & Elce, h/w to David HEATON - S22-T2-R4. Signed: Richard (X) WATTS, Elce (X) WATTS. Witn: Platt B. Dickson, ISRAEL WATTS. rec 1813, Bk. D, pp 101, 102 1813 - Richard WATTS & Elce, h/w to Benjamin BRIDGE - S22-T2-R4. Bound by land of David HEATON, Emma QUICK. Signed Richard (X) WATTS, Elce WATTS. Witn: Platt B. DICKSON, ISRAEL WATTS. rec 1814, Bk. D, pp 208-109 It appears they all left Butler Co. OH. Where did they go? Would Richard Watts be Israel's father? Or brother? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kay Kay E. DeWeese, Piqua, OH Researching descendants of Rev. Analee, Sorry, I can't make a connection to my Watts' yet. Have you ever been called "Watts your name" or "Watts Riot"? Our family had just moved to California when the Watts Riot happened. My uncle says one of our great uncles or grandfather started the town of Watts as a realestate development, however I've never been able to confirm this. Does anyone know? By the way my name now means high voltage. Dear Mark, Did I tell you that my Hugh Stuart Watts formerly Watt, whose father was supposedly John Watt of Greenock, Scotland, was born on a ship during a storm off the coast of Sandy Hook, New Jersey in 1805 while returning to Scotland from a visit from America? I would absolutely love it if you could locate the ship list with the names on it. I've been having trouble identifying my John Watt family in Scotland. My one goal in life is to find them in Scotland! By the way, according to family legend, Hugh Stuart Watt was raised and educated in Scotland and he and a brother returned here to live, I figure around 1825. I don't know the brother's name either, except that their father, John Watt, told them that if they added an "S" to their names not to come back home. And, of course, like all good children, they immediately added an "S" making it "Watts". I was trying to think of ways that your Watts' could fit into mine. I've always thought that mine came over here to visit their family. It's a long trip to make just for the heck of it! What state is Westmoreland County in? I don't know where Hugh's brother settled - legend says "somewhere in the South" and others say Canada. Can't wait to hear from you! By the way, Catherine Burns (above) is my half sister and also a Watts. >Re: [WATTS-L] Watts This? You know, that subject took me back to the days of elementary school when I was commonly referred to as anything from "Watts Up" to "General Electric Watts". :) Anyway, to stick to the lists purpose, does anyone recognize this person ? My grandfather Walter Watts was 1907 in Oklahoma. There's a real heavy fog over the identity of his parents. I do know that his siblings included Ernest, Joseph and Anna Lee Watts, all of whom I'm pretty sure were born in Oklahoma. When the family was still young, due to unknown circumstances (it's been said but not confirmed that my great-grandfather commited murder at this time) my great-grandfather packed up the kids (there hasn't been even one mention of their mother) and moved to Texas. I do know that my great-grandfather died there. Yet more incident nearly broke up the family and grandfather and his siblings all located to Tennesee. At the time grandfather and Ernest were young adults, but Anna Lee and Joseph were still quite young and spent time in an orphanedge. Any help would be appreciated ! :) Analee Watts

Does this list cover the name WATT? I am seeking info on CLARENCE (CALLIE) REBECCA WATT who was born in 1851 in Michigan and married JAMES REYNOLDS HAIGHT in 1871-73 in Coffey Co. KS She had a brother named GUY WATT I would assume that the parents of GUY and CALLIE moved from Michigan to Kansas while their children were still small, as GUY and CALLIE both settled in that area as adults. I just received the following email from a cousin. Anyone have a Charles Watts in Baltimore MD? Chuck __________ Hi Chuck, Linc and I have been here at Zanesville, Ohio since Monday and have had great success. Have copied Beatty cemetery records; have been to the cemetery and have taken pictures of the stones; have copied deed records on Beatty and Watts and have township records to fit them all together. Have copied a record in the Charles Watts probate that says he had a son William. Charles's wife's name was Elizabeth; They had other children besides William - George S. Watts, Mary Ann Watts that married William H. Beatty, Frances Watts, and Elizabeth Watts. Found death record on Mary Ann Watts Beatty that says she was born 1 Jan 1804 in Baltimore, MD. __________
