Hi, Tony, We are here. Just don't know where everyone has been the last few days. Do you know of any of your ancestor WATTS who came over to America that we could match up with ours? I personally have a Hugh WATTS and his brother, name unknown, who came to America between about 1823 and 1827. Hi, Tony: Just thought I would say HI and let you know there is someone out there! I'm still looking for my 5g grandfather's family, parents and siblings, that I believe came from England or Ireland before 1737. He was William WATTS (possibly a sea Captain) and shows up marrying a Margaret McLELLAN in Falmouth, ME in 1737. They then came to Boston, MA. Any of your line connected? Regards, Dick Watts rlwatts@webtv.net Sponsor of RootsWeb Watts: http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Foothills/5212/short.html Genealogy: researching WATTS, TAYLOR, MURPHY, DAVIES, and HART of ME, NH, and MA. .
Does anyone have Southampton, England, connections to the WATTS name? My g-grandfather, James WATTS b. Southampton about 1800, d Trowbridge, Wiltshire in the 1870s, was said to be related to Dr. Isaac WATTS the hymnist. I would love to hear from anyone interested in this family. I have information to share on James and his descendants. Happy hunting. Jackie
Hi any one Its customary to sit on the side lines for a few days with these lists and watch what is happening, but as I have had no postings for the last 4 days, is this list active? Regards Tony Friend Watts in Leicestershire U.K. tony@friend1.freeserve.co.uk

I am new to the list as of last night but I thought I would jump right in. I just found out that the name of my gg-grandmother was Emeline Watts. She married Alvin Gray who was born in Michigan. They had 4 children: May, Marie, Clem and Bessie (died in infancy). May married Hubert Theodore Hutchins and Marie Married Unknown Durnbaugh. If anyone can help me with this line I would really love it. I know nothing else of Emeline or Alvin. Am new to your group and would appreciate any information you could provide on John Watts, born in VA about 1810. He married Mary ?, who was born in TN about 1820. They had six children that I know of: Bethany, Jasper, Huston(?), Elizabeth, Joshua. and Eliza. Am particularly interested in finding out who Bethany married. John and his wife, Mary, were living in Hawkins Co., TN on the 1850 and 1860 census records. Also would like information on Greenberry Watts, born about 1790 in VA, married Elizabeth ?, and lived in Hawkins Co. TN on th e1850 census. Is Greenberry the father of John? Thanks. Karen Jerles
Hi listers. It appears I may have a change of name in my tree from WATTS to WATT. My ancestor, James WATT, born in Armagh? Northern Ireland (15.10?).1839, moved to South Australia on the NORTH, c1850's. He then married Ruth STONE, b Wiltshire c10.10.1848. They had 9 children. Some of the children had unusual middle names, which may turn out to be family names; 8. Leonard Orr Russel WATT 9. Elizabeth Rebecca Mary Mc Slough WATT Any links to this family? I have no info. for parents / siblings. Would SKS do a lookup for James WATT, b c1839 in Armagh County, Northern Ireland? Deborah, Don't know if this is a coincidence. See what you think. Hugh Stuart WATT aka WATTS, b. 1805, formerly of Scotland, came to America with a brother whose name I've never been able to find and who, according to family legend, settled either in the "South" or in Canada. Also according to family legend the two were related to James (Steamengine) WATT and their father's name was John (he's the one who told the boys that if they added an "S" to their name - WATT to WATTS - not to come back to Scotland). Hugh Stuart WATTS married to Rhoda DORSET in New York City on July 29, 1827 according to a family bible and had three children: John WATTS, b. August 16, 1831 in NYC Henry WATTS, b. August 14, 1833 in NY, NY and Catherine Maria WATTS ELDRIDGE, b. May 1, 1837 in NY, NY. John WATTS and his wife, Fannie MAC DONALD b. August 25, 1837 in Buffalo, Erie County, NY married in New York City on May 8, 1860 and had four children, one of whom was named John Henry WATTS, b. August 2, 1864 in New York. John Henry WATTS and his wife, Florence Carew, had two sons, one of whom was named John Henry WATTS II, and it continues down the line. One of my uncles, John Henry WATTS, is helping me research Hugh Stuart WATTS' line. I have a copy of my Great Grand Aunt Cecilia Letitia WATTS' (1861 to 1953) diary and she mentions many names of relatives and friends. As she lived in New York City and Brooklyn, I might be able to find some of your names. I know I've seen them before but don't know if it was in the newspaper articles I found or where. I'll let you know what I find in the diary asap. Here's Hoping Karen Watts High Deborah Goodman wrote: > I am searching for information about my great grandfather.
