I am looking for a family of Watts. Thomas b 1788, Josiah b 1797, James b 1799, Daniel b, 1804, Charlotte b 1806(marr Zeno Hough), and Leodicia b 1813 all born in SC. From a note in a Hough family Bible their parents were born 1756 and 1768 but I have no names. Daniel, his wife Mary b 1823 AL were living next door to Matilda Watts b 1810 SC, Leodicia, James Benjamin Franklin Watts b 1834 AL, Richard b 1848, Alabama b 1847. I believe Matilda was married to one of the three older brothers: probably Josiah as he and Daniel purchased property on the same date in 1837 next to each other. James B.F. is my great grandfather. I have not been able to find any records in Conecuh County except census records 1850-1870. Courthouse burned a lot. If any body has these names I would appreciate any contact as I have decided the whole family was eaten by bears. Well, You all have more info than I do! I've just begun my searches. I'm looking for info on my g gfather Joseph Campbell Watts b. 1839 d. 1918 (known possible as Campbell). He was married to two sisters(-but not at the same time) Louisa Delilah Lewallen (b 1874) and Millie Louvania Lewallen (b 1868) They were all from Scott and Morgan Co's TN Reno Watts was the Father of Joseph. I'm not sure where he was born, or if that is is given name or nick name. He may have married a Cherokee or was the son of one.(So our spoken history says) Any help or suggestions for a novice? I downloaded a file on Moses Watts, which is on the New England Watts. My Watts as far as I know start in NC/TN/TX/OK CA., so the file dosn't pertain to my family. The 1st Moses listed has no date, 2nd Moses abt 1755. If any one has New England Watts will do lookups. Also have the 1904-1940 Tx's death index for Watts. Will do lookips on that also. I ran across a copy of the MINUTES of the 34th Annual Convention of the UDC, Charleston, SC Nov 15-19, 1927. Under Pageland, SC, James M Miller Chapt No 1846, there are 2 Watts listed as officers. Mrs. Jasper B Watts, Corresponding Secretary Mrs. R L Watts, Treasurer I happen to know that Mrs R. L. Watts was Mrs. Robert Lee Watts (Cornelia Hamilton Watts) because she was my grandmother. Does anyone know about Mrs. Jasper B Watts? That Watts name is not familiar to me, and I would love to know if there is a connection.
