Hi All My WATTS are from Dover/Hougham Kent England It has taken me a number of years to find them on a census after 1841 Andrew Watts was a Tailor and he was married in Dover to Elizabeth Marsh Williams in 1826 their first child was Eliza Abigail born Dover 1832 the next known child was my GGrandmother Abigail born Dover 1844 this was where I hit my brick wall as they were not on any of the 51,61,71,.81 Census for Dover When my GGrandmother married in 1878 her father was deceased and her mother still living and what I assumed was a brother or cousin had signed her marriage certificate. When the 1881 Census was released I found an Andrew Watts living at the same address as she was on her Marriage and he was born in Dover so I looked for her mothers death and found her dying in Hougham in Kent and on this Death Certificate the informant was her son Andrew. After looking at the Census for Hougham I found her and her children at this address in in 1871,1861 and with her husband in 1851 gee it felt good to finally break though the brick was after 10 years or more. Now to find GGgrandfather Andrew Watts brothers and sisters he was also born in Dover to Peter Watts and Abigail Redman nee Nash in 1803. If anyone out there is doing this family would be pleased to hear from you looking for Peter's Birth and Parents. Hello everyone: I am new in my postings but have been reading this board for many weeks and have found it most helpful! I am searching for JOHN WATTS BORN JUNE 3RD 1825 he married ELIZABETH VERNON BORN 1837 both were born in Chapel En Le Frith Derbyshire England and were Quakers. They had 10 children : JOHN, ANNIE, SAMUEL, JOSHUA, WILLIAM, THOMAS, SARAH ELIZABETH, MARY, ELLEN AND JOSEPH I have hit that brick wall too! Any info will be very grateful. What I need is to confirm John and Elizabeths parents names and marriage, somewhere around 1859 to 1861 I believe. Regards, Blanche Somers Canada
I'm looking for info regarding my grandmother, Nevie Watt, or Watts, born in McComb, MS around 1880. I think she had a brother Frank who later lived in TX. Wichita Falls, TX was a place they also lived. Their father was a railroad man. She married a Dr. Pickett of Ty Ty, Ga. & had 2 daughters. After becoming a widow, she married a Charlie Varner in Ty Ty. Does this ring a bell with anyone? She said she was part Indian. I'd appreciate any help out there.
Thomas Henry Watts,b ca 1805 in NC, son of Thos Watts and Lavinia Huntley, married Rose (Rosa, Ida Rose, Rosetta) Hilton in Union Co, NC in 1859. Ida Rose is listed as HELTON on the marriage data, which seems to be an early spelling of HILTON. They lived in Chesterfield Co, SC and had at least 7 children. Rose does not appear to connect with any of the known Hilton families in the area. Two sources list two different sets of parents for her. Does anyone have a clue that would help knowdown this brickwall?? Rose is my GGgrandmother, and I really would like to learn about her and her family.
Barsheba Watts is everyone's mystery lady. I do hope you find her!! She has been a brickwall for years. It is believed that she was born in Bedford Co, VA. Keep us all posted if you find her. I have a Barsheba Watts married William Gullege. I think they were probably from Anson County NC and I don't have a date of birth for her but I have 1730 for him so that gives me a range.
Hello everyone. Thank you to all who replied to my testing message. As you can see, I have changed over to list mode to make it a bit easier. My WATTS interests are in the Staffordshire area and possibly Durham areas of the UK. My gran (who is a Watts) thinks a cousin emigrated to Australia, but haven't got any details as yet. Regards Amanda Whitehouse Auckland, NZ
I thought I would post my "brick wall" in case any new listers have information. My 5g grandfather, William WATTS, "appears out of nowhere" in 1737 at Falmouth, ME USA and marries Margaret McLellan. They move to Boston, MA and have 3 children (John, Samuel, and Elizabeth). Margaret is probably the daughter of Bryce McLellan and Jane who emigrated from Ballymoney in 1719. Margaret was born in transit. Margaret married second a Samuel Gilchrest after William's death. John and Samuel raised families in St.George, Knox, ME. Elizabeth died unmarried in Boston, MA. Margaret and Samuel Gilchrest also went to St. George and had a family. I have no family information for William before his marriage date. The only clue is that some genealogy entries say he came from "Northern Ireland" and "was born before 1720". I'm looking for his parents and siblings. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
