Received an e-mail this morning with JENKINS genealogy; don't know from which rootsweb site it was sent (Mineral County, Pocahontas County, or Watts); inadvertently trashed it but would like to have another copy sent to me. would like to check to see if the Jenkins listed match anything I have as follows: NANCY WATTS (no other info known) married a BILL JENKINS; Nancy Watts was the child of David Watts (1798-1880) and Susan Elizabeth (Dennison) Watts (1822-1915). Nancy Watts had brothers and sisters named Alexander Watts (my line), John Watts, James A. Watts, Alice Watts and Lina Watts. Please resend the Jenkins e-mail.... thanks. John Hartman (Virginia)
Hi This is Dick Fleming Sorry not in my file
Sorry not in my file.
Hi Everyone. A couple of weeks ago I lost my hard drive. Things are pretty well back in shape again, but I lost some addresses in my address book, and my messages. If anyone on this list has contacted me within the last 2 (maybe 3) months, would you please contact me again. I may have lost you! And that is something I do not want to do. The Watts I am looking for are ISRAEL WATTS and MARY DEWEESE, daughter of Rev. Joshua Deweese. They married in Butler Co., OH in 1809 and ended up in Johnson Co., IN by 1820. I would like to know the parents of Israel Watts and everything I can find about their descendants. Thanks, Kay - ----------------------------------------------------------------- Kay E. Hi, Looking for Wiley Cates, his wife Nancy Sawyer Cates, his daughter Sally Jane Cates Watts, or her husband Richard Albert Watts--son of Ludwell P Watts and ??? (not Mary Myrick unless she had 2 of his children before the marriage that produced the rest!) Any info on any of these people would be helpful. Also, what records are available for Wilcox Co in the mid-1800s? (These people moved back and forth, apparently, from Monroe to Wilcox and back again...) Here's what I have: Wiley Cates b. 1834 Edgefield, SC, m. Nancy Sawyer ca 1853 (where?), both d. after 1872 in Wilcox or Monroe AL (would like to find marriage, land, deed, tax, church, death or burial info on these 2!) Sally Jane Cates born Pine Apple, AL 4/25/1858, m. ca 1878 to Richard A Watts in AL, d. in TX (can I get a photocopy from somewhere of her birth record? is there a marriage record for these 2 or any other info? church? occupation? land?) Richard Albert Watts b. 4/26/1857 Monroe Co, AL, m. and d. as above (again, are there records available to photocopy?) Ludwell P. Watts (not to be confused with the other 3 Ludwell Watts I've found!!) b. 4/24/1807 in GA, listed as unmarried in 1850 census, had children in 1854 and 4/1857 by an unknown mother, and married Mary Myrick in Monroe Co in August of that year. He died in 1877 in Pine Apple, I think. (who was the first mother?!? is there a female Watts death record or burial shortly after 4/26/1857? would there be an obit for 1877 for Ludwell which might mention his first wife or a birth record for Richard or his older brother Malcome McMillan Watts? Could she have been a McMillan? Are there church or marriage records for 1850-1854? Where is Ludwell buried? Is there an old cemetery in Pine Apple chock full of Watts?) Sorry for cross-postings--it seemed most efficient. Trying to fill in the many gaps on this line. Obviously my biggest mystery is the mother of Malcome and Richard Albert Watts. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm running out of ideas!!! I'd love to get photocopies of any extant records (will pay for copying and postage if anyone's going...) and photos of gravesites or churches attended or land once owned by any of these folks! Any help very much appreciated--trying to get as much together before holidays as I can for a family present! thanks! Cyndi in Baltimore

I found 3 Watts listed in the surname index of a rare old Cherokee genealogy book at http://members.aol.com/rarebk At the site, they have the surname index of this rare old Cherokee genealogy book called "Old Cherokee Families and Their Genealogy," with lots of English names, they have posted the 1835 Cherokee census, and a Cherokee genealogy tutorial that shows you how to conduct effective Cherokee genealogy research. Also, they have posted the full index of a book that shows people who sued in the 1800's for Cherokee citizenship. Once at the site, go to BOOKLISTS, then scroll down till you see the books. For the tutorial, it will be about halfway down the page, and then you can invoke it. The 1835 Cherokee census is posted within the tutorial. I found a """""very """" long article on Cornelius Lane that stowed away on a ship bound from Ireland in 1790. It states that he found his way to Brindletown about 15 miles soutwest of Morganton NC. He Married a local girl named Mary Deal. The article headlines are FATE LANE - Legendary Burke Character had eight wives , 43 children. This article was in published in a newspaper called "The News Herald , Morganton Nc Wed. May 30, 1979 The Insider Edition Page 1-B" It has some very valuable information for many families because of the very detailed account of the Lane's lives. The article was written by Gordon Boger. It lists 8 of Fate (Lafayette) Lane's Wives: by maiden name: Lou Hines, Mary Messner, Cindy Goins, Delthra Watts, Dove Suttles, Jane Peeler, Linda Messner and Mary Johnson It Lists Fate Lanes brothers and sisters as:: Bill, John, Sam, Ephraim, Bert, Jake and Polly. Thought this might help someone out . I'm new to the list, and I'm new to researching the WATTS family.

Doinfg a little cross-posting here for my "mystery of the day" Ludwell P Watts was born in GA 4/24/1807. He appears on the 1850 census as unmarried. On 12/19/1854 he has a son born in Wilcox Co named Malcome McMillan Watts. On 4/26/1857 he has a son born in Wilcox Co named Richard Albert Watts. In August of 1857 he married Mary Myrick and begins having children by her in Pine Apple, Monroe Co. I'm looking for Ludwell's first wife (or proof that these 1st two children were Mary Myrick's prior to their marriage!) I need help! Does anyone have access to census, marriage, or death records for either county between 1850 and 1860? Or cemetery records for a female Watts (married name) for 1857? (My theory is that she died in childbirth with Richard--or shortly afterward, and Ludwell married a neighbor or in-law or church member soon afterward.. ) Are there McMillans on the 1850 census near Ludwell (guessing from 1st child's name!)? Is there a marriage record in Wilcox or Monroe (do they exist?) between 1850 and 1854? Do the Myrick's show up on the census for 1850? While I'm at it, Malcome married Mary "Susan" Philpot 2/5/1878 place unknown. Richard married Sally Jane Cates ca 1878 place unknown. Can anyone do a lookup for these marriages in Wilcox or Monroe Co? Even if they're not there, it would help to rule those places out! Were there newspaper records for that period? I'm wondering if a newspaper marriage record might list a late mother! What records are available for this period? Can anyone help me out with this mystery? Any suggestions out there? I'd really appreciate any help--this is my dad's Most Wanted ancestor and I'd love to find out anything! Even if it's just ruling things out... Thanks! Cyndi in Baltimore

I am wondering if anyone on the list might have information on an Andrew Jackson Watts born in County Cork, Ireland in 1869. He immigrated to the US with his mother and one sister (sister's name was, I believe, Avarilla) and married a woman named Mattie Evelyn Leach. I don't have the resources to research Irish genealogy at this moment, but I have an uncle and a cousin (actually, Andrew's youngest child's youngest daughter) who would love this information as well. Thank you. Teresa A. Langley, North Pole AK _______________________________________________________ Get your free, private email at http://mail.excite.com/
