    3. Hi there Folks, I'm new to this elite list and am hoping someone might have some loose ends which might help me. I'm looking for any information on John Willoughby WATT who has turned out to be an antecedent of mine. All I know is that he was married in London in 1820, to Mary Georgina LORIOT and a baby girl was born to them in Caen, France the next year but christened in London in 1822. There may possibly have been another child, Zachariah, christened the next year. John was a lieutenant in the Royal Navy at the time of his daughter's christening, so perhaps this explains why she was born in France. Does anyone happen to have any connections here? Regards, DI

SARAH GORDON WATT - END OF A PURE LIFE EARLY THIS MORNING Mrs. Sarah Gordon WATT, widow of the late Wm. WATT, and for many years one of the noble women of this county, passed away about 10 o'clock this morning at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. R. Harvey NASH, who resides about 4 miles East of Xenia. Mrs. WATT had been a great sufferer for several years past, being troubled with a nervous affection which had kept her confined to her bed for the most part, for a long time past. Her condition of late assumed a very serious aspect and her death was not unexpected. The maiden name of the deceased was Sarah Gordon CARRUTHERS. She was born in Dunfriese, Scotland, 79 years ago, coming to this county with her parents when a girl. She was united in marriage in Greene County to Mr. William WATT, whose burial occured just 4 years ago to a day. Since his death Mrs. WATT has scarcely seen a well day. She was tenderly cared for at the home of Mr. and Mrs. NASH, with whom she resided since Mr. WATTS death. She leaves the following children: Mrs. D.H. CHERRY, of East Xenia, Mrs. Warren JOHNSON, of Wichita, Kan., Mrs. Harvey NASH, with whom she made her home, James B. of Chicago, John C. of Columbus, A D.B. and R.C. WATT of Xenia. She also leaves 2 brothers, Wm. B. CARRUTHERS, of Indianola, Iowa, and James B. CARRUTHERS of this city. The deceased was a member of the Presbyterian Church all the time of her long residence in Greene County. She was very attentive to her church duties, was a woman of noble qualities of mind and heart, and a true christian in every walk of life. The funeral will be held at the residence of Mr. NASH on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial in Woodland. Debbie ( I have no connection) I found this obit and I am just posting it to the list. ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! 1. James Watt from Indiana
    2. Virginia Gandrup
    3. I am hoping someone on this list can shed some light on my WATT ancestors who hailed from Indiana. I know very little about them...... We don't know from where they came, or when. Following is what I know: JAMES WATT born August 11, 1823 (place unknown) married MARTHA MARION (surname unknown). They lived in Indiana (place unknown). An unknown number of children were born, among them: 1. Mary Elizabeth Watt born April 19, 1850, probably somewhere in Indiana, place not known. Mary died March 10, 1877 (place not certain--possibly Rensselaer), after a ride in a storm, getting thoroughly soaked, catching pneumonia and dying within three days. Mary married Caleb Augustus Hopkins on June 16, 1867, near Milford, Warren County, Indiana. Mary and Caleb Hopkins had three children before her death at age almost 27: Lodema "Dema" Jane Hopkins born July 17, 1868, Rensselaer, Jasper County, Indiana, Watt Clinton Hopkins born April 15, 1870, place not certain, possibly Rensselaer, and Robert Alfred Hopkins born September 22, 1873, Rensselaer, Jasper County, Indiana. 2. Martha G. Watt (birthdate and place unknown) married Nehemiah Hopkins, brother of her sister Mary's husband. Martha and Nehemiah Hopkins had an unknown number of children, among them Albert Eldridge Hopkins and Alva Hopkins (birthdates and places unknown) my line is through child # 1 above, Mary Elizabeth Watt and Caleb Augustus Hopkins, through their son, Robert Alfred Hopkins. Any help offered is greatly appreciated Genealogically yours, Virginia Gandrup Great great granddaughter of James Watt great granddaughter of Mary Elizabeth Watt granddaughter of Robert Alfred Hopkins

Is he the George WATT, Newton of Balquhain, died 27 Mar 1837 aged 28, and who is buried in Plot 76 Logie Durno as recorded in the "Kirkyard of Chapel of Garioch" (Sheila Spiers, Aberdeen & NE Scotland FHS, Reprinted 1989) Ted WATT
