    1. Just a few comments as a reminder from the Listowner

    3. Hi to all my lists: Periodically I like to touch base and remind everyone about the simple rules by which these lists live and other (hopefully) useful information. 1. We are all always polite to each other on the list. What you email privately is your concern. 2. These lists are NOT to be used for commercial purposes. Your access to the wonderful folks who subscribe is for the exchange of free genealogical information only, except NJ-Memories and that is for sharing memories about NJ. No soliciting for business is allowed. 3. Do not post virus warnings. Just today I posted one that I verified as a "real" threat. CONTACT ME if you hear of one and I will research it, and post if appropriate. I know "Monopoly" is not a virus, but these "critters" are all generically referred to as viruses. And not knowing what equipment/software folks use, I know some of you would probably never be affected directly, but nipping the discussion in the bud keeps traffic down and on target. We don't need multiple exchanges explaining what is and isn't; that's why I'm here so contact me directly. 4. Try to put surnames in all caps to make them stand out, but don't put everything in all caps--it's considered "shouting" and is rude. 5. When replying, be careful whether you reply individually or to the list. Some email systems are set to append the original message to the reply. If this involves a digest, then a copy of the digest gets incorporated and takes up lots of space, especiaaly if it's included in a subsequent digest. 6. If you want to reference an internet site, copy the WHOLE URL [Universal Resource Locator--tech speak for location] including the http://, this makes it an active link that can be selected with a mouse and you are taken directly there. As always, please respond to me privately, not to the list, and your comments and flames are always graciously appreciated. :) Chris WATSON WATSON and NJHudson Listowner NJ-Memories ListManager
