Angela, I cannot tell you exactly which Watson family yours hails from but I can eliminate one line for you. I think that with the names that you have from James R. will, the family must be related to my Watson family. My line has a James B. Watson who married Sally Cleveland in 1807 in Alb. Co. His brother was John Watson who married Sarah Martin in 1800. There is also a Fanny, Joab who married Elizabeth Ward in 1810, and William. These 5 were the children of John Watson, known as of "High Top." John and James remained in Albemarle Co. as did Fanny. I do not know what happened to William. I am pretty sure that Joab left the county but cannot say for certain. The father of John Watson of High Top was also known as John and he was married to a Margaret. There was an Evan T. Watson who married Lucy Coleman in Alb. and emigrated to Ky. and ended up in TX. but I do not know how he relates to this family. He named children James, John, Joab, etc. My John, son of John of High Top and married to Sarah Martin, named children Joab, James, Ivin, so while I cannot prove it, I have to feel that the family that you are looking at was probably from a son of the original John Watson that bought land in Rocky Creek area of Alb. in 1779 and was married to Margaret. I think that he is the father of John of High Top, the Joab who went to KY and TX. and your family line. I know this doesn't help you directly with your family, but I think I can give you at least a brother of your family and help you rule out one of the lines that was in Alb. Co. at the time. Your James R. was not the son of John of High Top. He could very well be his brother though. The Joab born in Alb. Co. in 1803 was the son of John Watson who was married to Sarah Martin. Hope I've given you a little help. Joyce
