He married EMILY KNOX (1 Jun 1828-24 Feb 1887) on 8 Dec 1844 in Esquesing Twp., Halton Co., ONT. ALEX WATSON received Wellington Co. Land Grants from the Crown in Jan.and Feb. 1856. On 1861 census for Peel Twp., Wellington Co., ONT., Emily is head of the household with seven children: HARRIET (11 Oct 1845-6 Apr 1921), born Esquesing Twp.; GEORGE (1848- ); ELIZABETH ANN (1850- ); OLIVE AMANDA (1852- ); ELIJAH (1855- ); ALEXANDER (1858- ), born Peel Twp., Wellington Co., ONT.; and EMILY (1860- ), also born Peel Twp. There is a gravestone marked 1859 for an ALEX WATSON in Glenallen Union Cemetery, Peel Twp., Wellington Co., ONT. Is this his grave? Emily married (2) THOMAS REEVES DAWES of Harriston, Minto Twp., Wellington Co., ONT on 14 Jul 1870. On 1871 census for that location, the WATSON children are listed as "Scotch". The oldest daughter HARRIET WATSON married MICHAEL STREETER of Woolwich Twp., Waterloo Co., ONT on 4 Mar 1869.(They were my great-grandparents on my father's side.) They later moved to Hinton Twp., Mecosta Co., MI. In a county history bio of the family, Alexander was given as her father; and his birth- place as Canada. His name is also given as father on her death certificate. I have not been able to locate a probate record for him. I appreciate this forum for getting our queries "out there".
