Joyce and Angela: I wonder if my John W. WATSON might connect to the WATSON families mentioned in your message (below). My John W. WATSON was born in 1828 KY; he married Lucy Ann WATSON in 1853 Collin Co., TX, she was the dau of Coleman WATSON, son of Evan T. WATSON. I have been unable to find the parents or any siblings for my John. John lived most of his life in Grayson TX and died in 1909, but is buried with his second wife, Julia WHITAKER, in Collin TX. Other WATSON's in the cemetery descend from Joel Brown WATSON of Cumberland KY; however the oldest of this family is one or two generations younger than my John WATSON - and they are not buried near each other in the cemetery. I have often felt that my John may have been a cousin of Lucy Ann WATSON, and therefore connected somewhere up the family line to the Evan Thomas WATSON family. In varying census records, John is listed as born in KY, AL and MS - very confusing! However, in a brief historical sketch which mentions him, he is stated as being from KY. Therefore, I would like to know if anyone knows of a branch from the Albermarle VA WATSON's might have migrated through KY, AL and/or MS on their way to TX. John W. WATSON first appears in the 1850 Collin TX census, age 21, living with 4 other young men - they are all listed as farmers. It appears he may have traveled to TX alone or with someone other than his parents, which makes the search for them very difficult. Does anyone have any info on my John, or when his first wife Lucy Ann WATSON died?
