Pat, There is a book on THE DEES FAMILY by Dr. Benjamin C. Holtzclaw, University of Richmond, Virginia, published in Shreveport, LA in 1970. On page 222 it has the following information. "35. WILLIAM DEES (James, Joel, William, John) b. 1829 in Ala. (census of 1850) or 1820 (census of 1870); d. April 27, 1898, probably in Monroe Co., Ala (date from Family Bible). Married Sept. 15, 1851 Claressa Watson (b. Dec. 20, 1831, d. July 4, 1882). The material on the family of William Dees, both from the census returns and from the Family Bible and other records sent me by Mrs. W. E. Dees's wife, Roena Martin, but since this is not certain, I am putting "A.R." down as a child of William and Claressa.)" Page 124 has the following information (exerpted) 128: JAMES DEES, b. prob. ca. 1792-2, Edgefield Co., S.C.; d. prob July 7, 1855, Baldwin Co. AL; m. Martha Ingram (b. 1794, Edgefield Co. SC; d. June 7, 1867, Baldwin Co. AL). ....."Dees data copied from the old Dees Bible owned by Mrs. H. L. Dees of Repton, Monroe Co Ala. by Mrs. W. E. Dees, Evergreen, Ala. "My husband's father was Henry L. Dees b. Dec. 4, 1874; Henry L. Dees" father was William Dees; William Dees" father was James Dees. "William Dees and Claressa H. Watson married Sept. 15, 1851. Their children:" Lists the children same as above. "MARRIAGES - Willis Dees and Mary Brady married Feb. 19m 1851 Isabella Dees and William Haynes married Feb. 19, 1851 Henry L. Dees and Roena Martin married May 21, 1896 (parents of W. E. Dees) Jim Brady married Fannie Dees." "DEATHS - Joseph Brady died Dec. 25, 1850 Mamie Dees Pate died April 16, 1932 (?)
