I began with Reddick Watson from NC who in the early 1800 left NC and moved to Thomas County, Georgia. Reddick and family started moving to Louisiana before the 1850. My grandfather Joseph Watson did not leave Goergia until after the 1850, because he was born there in 1851 to James Parker and Rebecca Hayman Watson, The 1860 census shows James Parker Watson and family in Rapidas Parish Louisiana. My grandfather Joseph Watson moved to Polk County, Texas in the late 1860 or when he was about 17 years old. My mother was the youngest daughter of Joseph and Henrietta Amerson Meadows Watson. I expect to collect information about many Watson families before finding the one my own links to, and I'm happy to share it with those interested. This is something I've wanted to do to further my own family research, so I've joined up. Although it's somewhat remote that you and I will connect our WATSON lines to a traceable generation (as my ine seems to have immigrated to the colonies from England and settled in Maryland or Virginia - and no known lines went to Georgia), I feel the more WATSON data we have in the DNA database the better. As I wrote you earlier, I'd planned to set up a Google group for the project, where as well as private messages (more private that Rootsweb lists), we can trade rich-media files like GEDCOMs and pictures as well as text information. That's done now, and you've probably already received an invitation. Thanks also for your lineage. You may be sure I'll be adding that info to my new Watson family file. I use Reunion 8, a Mac genealogy application, but it exports nice clean GEDCOM 5.5 files that can be used by almost all other programs or explored in plain text by the truly determined (and masochistic). I'll post those in the Google group archives from time to time. Anyone else who wants to join the Google group, please let me know and tell me where you heard about it. It's a private group, so can only be joined by invitation. It will be interesting to see if there might be a connection, even though you don't think there is. Our Charles L. Watson's wife's family came from Maryland, so anything is possible. Georgia and Alabama were frequently secondary migratory destinations for families who first touched down further up the coast. This is exciting! I can hardly wait to see the test results!
