John (b. abt 1728) and Margaret "Peggy" WATSON said to have come from London, England (according to 1880 account written by great-grandson) and they settled in Virginia. Are first documented 1779 in Albemarle VA, but RW pension accounts place John and Margaret in Albemarle VA as early as 1759. Perhaps he is the John WATSON listed in nearby Orange Co., VA Tax Lists during this time... Eldest son John "Hightop" WATSON remained in Albemarle VA until his death in 1833, while most of the family appears to have migrated to Madison Co., KY by 1792. John and Margaret died in Madison Co., KY after 1805; likely before 1807. John and Margaret WATSON had the following children: John (m. Frances? Alice BIRD), Mary (m. John NICKERSON), Joseph (m. Nancy ?), Evan Thomas (m. Lucy COLEMAN), Jesse (m. Milley BALLARD) and Anne (m. William BRYANT). They were also probably the parents of Judith WATSON m. John GARDINER, David WATSON m. (1) Mary HARRIS (2) Elizabeth MAUPIN, and Elizabeth WATSON m. Samuel YEATS/YATES. Two of John "Hightop" WATSON's sons, Joab and James Bird, migrated to Madison Co., AL and later Phillips Co., AR; where I lose track of there heirs - both Joab and James Bird WATSON died in Phillips Co., AR, but I cannot locate any deed or probate records through the County Clerk concerning their wills or heirs, though I do have many of their childrens family charts from census records. John's son William is said to have married Catherine ROGERS (dau of Achilles ROGERS and Mary GEORGE), but I do not know where they were circa 1830 or later. Williams' dau Frances Ann Temple WATSON married in KY, and migrated to Missouri. Would like to know more of their other children William Booker, Mary George, and John. Mary George WATSON is said to have married a BAIRD/BIRD. Evan Thomas WATSON is my line, and I have quite a bit on information on his line, but not the original source document for the birthdates of his family which were published in a book on the COLEMAN family without citing the source. I would love to know where that information came from. Evan left Madison Co., KY about 1817 and is next found in Warren Co., KY in 1819. He moved to Texas in 1833 and died there. Jesse WATSON died 1790 in Madison Co., KY. Joseph WATSON died abt 1841 in Madison Co., KY. His wife's name was Nancy, and he had 7 children survive him, and possibly a son who died prior to 1841. I have quite a bit of information on this family, and have yet to find a single descendant researching this line. Joseph was a RW soldier. These children mostly stayed in and around Madison Co., KY beyond 1870. I am particularly interested in this branch because it was Joseph who still had the family bible of his parents in 1833 (according to Evan's RW pension). Therefore, this bible was probably in Madison Co., KY as late as the 1870's when Joseph's oldest son, John, was still living; he died in 1874. I would love to know if this ancient bible has survived. Email me if you would like further information on any of these lines. Also, I would love to add more information to fill in some gaps if anyone has some good documentation on any of the above persons. Mark
