He joined in 1776, served under Capt. Richard Billup (Billufs??) in the VA Militia for 12 months, as a private. John died in 1824 and his widow applied for a pension on the 17th of May 1837 and was awarded an amount of $280.....$260 of it being "award" thru the 4th of September 1837 and a semi-annual allowance of $20 ending (thru) 4 Mar 1838. That's about all that can be gleaned from the record that would be pertinant to genealogy. It's recorded in Series M805, Roll 843, Image 363. File # W18258. Rose (Watson) Johns
