My brick wall is James Watson, who was born about 1820 in Pennsylvania. He died 7/8/1898 in Altoona, Blair Co., PA. He married someone named Mary A. after 1850. She was born about 1830 and died in May 1895. They are buried in Fairview Cemetery in Altoona, PA. They had the following children that I'm aware of: James H. Watson b. 8/4/1853 d. abt. 8/25/1910 Thomas E. Watson b. 7/4/1856 William F. Watson b. abt. 1859 d. April 1882 John Smith Watson b. 5/25/1862 d. 8/12/1937 Clarissa M. Watson b. abt. 1865 d. bef. 1898 Elnora S. Watson b. 11/20/1875 m. SMITH The elder James (b. abt. 1820) served in the 187th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. From what I can tell, he joined that unit in Pennsylvania, which was formed in Pittsburgh, PA. James apparently moved around a lot. In the 1860 census, he was living in Jackson Township, Huntingdon County, PA. In the 1870 census, he was living in Union Township, Mifflin County, PA. By 1880, he was living in the 7th Ward in Altoona, PA. I personally suspect that James was born in Huntingdon County, PA. I have found two James Watsons in the 1850 census that are the same age, and can not tell which one is mine. I would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who might be able to shed any light or may even be related! Thanks, Debbie Fisher
