    1. [WATSON] Sarah Jane Watson, formerly Bruce, nee Sexton
    2. Don Watson
    3. She was the wife of my gggf John Decatur Watson. I find her by herself in the 1870 Independence County census, Black River Township, Arkansas. The children are Mary, Arthur, Maggie, and Sarah. The story that John Decatur Watson, her husband, was killed in the Civil War and is buried elsewhere, may be true, after all. He would have been only 50 years of age if he had been in the home in 1870. John said that he was born in VA; his son, Arthur, said he was born in TN in one place, but listed AR in another. <grin>. (You've all been there, right?). Could someone in Independence County do a lookup for cemeteries in the vicinity of Black River Township? Batesville, Charlotte, others? Looking for the stone of Sarah Jane Watson, formerly Bruce, nee Sexton. Can anyone visit with the sexton for the various cemeteries? I plan to visit the museum in Batesville in September, in search of the parents of John Decatur Watson. Anything that would help me prepare for that visit will be very much appreciated. If anyone knows a researcher or "guide" in Batesville, let me know who he/she is. I may need some assistance at the museum and the court house. :-) Don Watson Oklahoma City "No snow falls lighter than the snow of age; but none lies heavier, for it never melts."

    3. I am sorry for my first email, I DO HAVE the parents for Walter Francis Watson.....they were James E. Watson and Mary Addie ? They were born respectively ca. 1895 and 1898 both in VA. They had the following children: James E. b. ca 1916,Walter F. b. 1919, Lucile G. b. 1923, and Jean A. b. 1925. All the children other than Walter were born in VA. 3. Hi Dave, Could your man be related to Benjamin Airay WATSON b8/11/1754 at Oxford? B A's father, who was also Benjamin and married a girl from Clerkenwell, MDX., was a wealthy Oxford grocer. Benjamin Airay also married a London girl, Mary SYDENHAM (28/10/1776) at Staining. I have found 2 children to Ben & Mary - Mary Ann (1778) and Benjamin Airay (1779) - both born Chesterton, OXF. Still working on others! B A (2) ended up in the West Indies and is my ggg grandfather. Realise the names are fairly common but have Elizabeth, John, Edward, Mary, Maria, Francis, James, William & Frederick scattered down through the generations. Contact me off list if you want to probe further. Regards Stew WATSON King Country - New Zealand
