Several years ago I had a brief contact with Beverly. Her address does not seem to be what I have=TEACHU-101. Do any of you Watson searchers know her address now? I hope someone can help. maziec@earthlink,net
I can help you with your German research, but only if you are ready to "cross the pond." You need lots of background information before you do that. :-) Don Watson ----- Original Message ----- From: "The Cook's" <pepperhead1@cox.net> In 1910 she is found with her son, living in Los Angeles, L. A., Ca. and states she is 42 born in Ky. father in Scotland and mother in Germany. Anyone have any suggestions how I might find her parents and/or siblings?
The following are two collateral lines of my ancestor, James THOMSON. Brothers Andrew WATSON, b. 1755, Old Kirkpatrick, Scotland and William WATSON, b. 1761, Dumbarton, Scotland married sisters Margaret THOMSON, b. 1759, Glasgow, Scotland and Barbara THOMSON, b. 1761, Glasgow, Scotland. Andrew and Margaret eventually settled in Allegheny Co., PA, late 1700's, and had ten known children including the following surnames: CUDDY BLACK WYLIE McKINNEY MAGEE PENTLAND as spouses of their children. William and Barbara settled about four miles from Pittsburgh on the Monongahela River, also in the late 1700's. They had five known children with the following connected surnames: THOMSON MYERS FERREE. Would like to hear from anyone connected to any of these families. Regards, Marybeth Corrigall ACMBJC@aol.com
Dear Watson Researchers, My ggGrandmother, Pauline "Lena" WATSON was born June 1862 in Kentucky according to the St. Joseph, Buchanan co., Missouri Census and listed with her husband, Stephen GOODALE and children. It states that both her parents were born in Scotland. In 1910 she is found with her son, living in Los Angeles, L. A., Ca. and states she is 42 born in Ky. father in Scotland and mother in Germany. This is all of the information I have concerning her. Anyone have any suggestions how I might find her parents and/or siblings? Dear List, I am looking for parents and ancestors of Livia Jane Watson who was born 1773 and died in Sewickley Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA in 1845. She is buried with her husband, Alexander McDonald in Long Run (Presbyterian) Cemetery near Circleville, Westmoreland Co., PA. There was a Moses Watson who was a member of the Westmoreland Co., PA Militia in the 1770's. Was he her father? Allied Westmoreland Co., PA families include McDonald, McGrew, Wilson, Wiley, Brown, and Reed. There is Shawnee ancestry in this line of my family but I don't know through which families. Anyone on the list with Indian ancestry in their Watson family? Thanks for any help. Nicole May njmay@aol.com

Hi: I also have a brick wall and I've exhausted every resource I can find. According to the research I have, my great grandfather, William Henry WATSON, was born in MD in 1833, of a VA born father and a MD born mother, names unknown. According to a family story, he was born in England and he and his brother came over to the US as teenagers. I've found no proof of this, though. William served in the Navy for the North in the Civil War and his brother, possibly Thomas, fought for the South and settled in AL after the war. From the Civil War on I have found records, but none of them mention the names of his parents. He married Mary Ann CORCORAN in Baltimore, MD in 1860 and died in the Old Soldier's Home in Hampton, VA in 1903. Does any of this ring a bell? Mary Jean
Does anyone have a connection to these Watsons found in Missouri? 1860 Census - Crawford County, Missouri, Union Township has WATSON, Elizabeth 58, Day Laborer, born MD Christanna, 32, same occupation, born MD Ellen, 22, same, born MD John W, 5, born MO Aron, 3, born MO the 1880 Crawford County, MO, Union Township has: WATSON, Christiana, 55, Spinster, MD, MD, MD Ellen, 54, Sister, MD, MD, MD Elizabeth, 80, Mother, MD, MD, MD Luther, 23, grandson, MO, MO, MD Haleck, 20, grandson, MO, MO, MD ==> T. Melvin, 16, grandson, MO, MO, MD Matilda, 11, grand daughter, MO, MO, MD I'd previously posted information about a Thomas Melvin WATSON, believing him to be the brother of my ggf, William Henry Watson. The age of the grandson shown above in the household of Christiana Watson corresponds with the age of my Thomas Melvin Watson. On Thomas Melvin Watson's Death Certificate is listed the name of his father, John E Watson of Virginia... and mother Mary Donald of Maryland. in the 1860 Census for Dent County, MO, Meramac township is shown: WATSON, John E, 35, VA Mary 27, MO John E, 8 MO James A, 6 MO Mary A, 4, MO Lorenzo D (or V) 2 MO Rhoda, 6 mo. MO John C, 12, MO Is it possible this John E is father to Thomas Melvin WATSON.. (?) On the Census form, next to the family of John E WATSON (above) is shown the family of James COOKSEY of Maryland; next to James is the household of Benjamin COOKSEY of VA; next to that household is the home of a John COOKSEY of VA; and the next homeowner is Coleman WATTSON, 65, of Maryland. If I compare land patent records, I find that Christiana WATSON and John E WATSON each, separately, filed land patents on January 3, 1856, Dent County, MO at the Jackson Land Office. Also, a William C WATSON filed for a land patent in Dent County on September 1, 1856... as did John E WATSON. Also, on April 10, 1849 William C WATSON filed for a land patent in Dent County .... as did Leonard B WATSON on that same date. **Note one of the patents shows that William C WATSON was residing in Crawford County, MO in 1848 but by 1859 he apparently was in Dent. Are Christiana/Christanna WATSON, John E WATSON, William C WATSON and PHILLIP/PHILIP WATSON (who is shown in 1840 Crawford County MO, Merrimac Township as is WIlliam C WATSON) all related ? Rebecca
My brick wall is John Watson born 1785 in SC/NC. Married Lydia Copeland in 1802 in NC. Children James, Thomas, John, Benjamin, Eliza,Sarah and Richard. Some were born in SC and some were born in TN, I do not know what counties. They migrated to MO then TX. John died in Gasconade MO. Lydia went to Texas. Id love to hear from anyone with any connections to the following elusive Watsons. Riley Leroy Watson was born in 1852. This family is living in St. Clair County, Al. in 1860. I think the family might be in SC prior to this time, but I have not been able to locate them thus far. Riley died in Franklin County, TN in 1926. This family first shows up in TN on the 1870 census. Riley's death certificate lists his father as John Watson. His mother's name is Elizabeth. The 1860 census of Alabama lists Elizabeth as being born in SC. On the 1870 census this family is living in Franklin County, TN. Elizabeth is now the head of the family and there are 3 children. People in the family do say that John died during the War Between the States. Also on the 1870 census of Franklin County, TN, there is an older John and Elizabeth Watson living next door to Elizabeth and the three children. They are in their 70s and say they were born in PA. This John and Elizabeth from PA may be the parents of the other John. No connection has been proved. The following list of people are all from Franklin County Tennessee: Children of Riley Leroy Watson and Caroline Smith Watson are: Annah Jane Watson Choate Minnie Holmes Watson Chitwood James Richard Watson Josie Elizabeth Watson Smith John Leroy Watson (My ggrandfather) Children of John Leroy Watson and Maggie Mae Fisher Watson: Richard Taylor Watson Bertie Mae Watson Riddle J.T.
