Hello all: Is anyone on this WATSON list searching in Scotland......that is where my interests are. Thank you Anne
I do not know about Major Watson, but I would be interested in the John Watson who is mentioned. I am searching for the father of Edward Watson, who was born in 1817. First-born son of Edward was John Watson, so I am guessing his father MAY be John Watson as well. Death in 1819 would be a good date for this family. My brick wall is Azariah Watson, born to James & Mary Greene Watson app. 1745-1790. I have no idea where he went before he died in KY about 1850. I have never been able to find a record of his wife, although his children were: Hezekiah b. 1810 William b. 1815 Elizabeth b. 1817 Azariah was born in MD, and lived in St. Mary's Cty with his family. He is listed in his father's will as Agoriah. If anyone has come across him in TN or KY, please let me know. I'd like to finally find his wife and fill in a branch of my family tree! Thanks, Tiffani Watson Tiffani_Watson@hotmail.com
Hello List, My brick wall is Livia Jane WATSON born 1773 and died 1845 in Sewickley or N. Huntington Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA. She married Alexander McDONALD before 1804 in Westmoreland Co., PA. Allied Westmoreland Co., PA surnames of descendants include McDonald, McGrew, Wilson, Reed, Brown, and Wiley. One or more of the wives in these families were said to be Thawakila Shawnee from the villages nearby on the Youghiogheny River. It is possible that Livia Jane was Shawnee or perhaps of mixed blood. Some early PA ( No County Given)Watson marriages include: 18 Nov 1773 Watson, Isaac, and Elizabeth Ballard Nov 1746 Watson, Jane, and Patrick Willie 30 Jan 1761 Watson, John, and Eleanor Ball 9 May 1765 Watson, John, and Mary Carpenter 7 Jan 1761 Watson, John, and Patience Madlock 20 Aug 1762 Watson, John, and Rebecca Snodgrace 28 Jan 1768 Watson, Richard, and Elizabeth Hillings 23 July 1743 Watson, Thomas 2 Dec 1761 Watson, William, and Margaret Boggs 8 June 1767 Watson, William, and Patience Adam PA Archives, Series II, Vol. II I have no idea if any of these Watsons are my Livia Jane's parents. If anyone can rule any of these people out it would be helpful. The William Watson/Patience Adam marriage is particularly interesting to me as there are Adams families in Westmoreland Co. with known Shawnee ancestry. Watsons in W. PA Census: 1800 Robert and Matthew Watson: Westmoreland Co., PA(FN), pg.196.07 Joe Watson: Westmoreland Co., PA (AR), pg. 158.07 William Watson: Allegheny Co., PA (BP), pg. 56.01 Joseph Watson: Fayette Co., PA (FR), pg. ? William Watson: Fayette Co., PA (MN), pg. 231:04 William Watson: Washington Co., PA(PT), pg.83:10 I have also seen mention of a Moses Watson in early Westmoreland Co., PA records. Watsons in Pittsburgh Directory of 1815 George: Merchant, s side Diamond Alley between Wood and Market James: Cooper, w side Penn between St. Clair & Irwin John: Blacksmithe, n side Diamond Alley between Wood & Market Joseph: Laborer, south side 2d in Kensington William: Pomp Maker, Water between Wood and Smithfield William: Stonecutter: s side of Front between Wood and Smithfield James Watson 75 David R**l [2] Allegany Reel SOURCE: 1840 Census of Pensioners Revolutionary or Military Services; With the names, ages, and places of residence Returned by the marshalls of the several judicial districts; under The Act for Taking the Sixth Census Anyone with information on these Watsons? Anyone with family tradition of Indian ancestry in their Watson line? Or Indian traders in early PA? Thanks for any help. I'm happy to share any other information I have. Nicole May njmay@aol.com
Looking for a Jennifer Watson of Albury Australia. She had made contact with me regarding our Watson line in Australia. I am having trouble contacting her. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Kelly
My brick wall is James Watson, who was born about 1820 in Pennsylvania. He died 7/8/1898 in Altoona, Blair Co., PA. He married someone named Mary A. after 1850. She was born about 1830 and died in May 1895. They are buried in Fairview Cemetery in Altoona, PA. They had the following children that I'm aware of: James H. Watson b. 8/4/1853 d. abt. 8/25/1910 Thomas E. Watson b. 7/4/1856 William F. Watson b. abt. 1859 d. April 1882 John Smith Watson b. 5/25/1862 d. 8/12/1937 Clarissa M. Watson b. abt. 1865 d. bef. 1898 Elnora S. Watson b. 11/20/1875 m. SMITH The elder James (b. abt. 1820) served in the 187th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. From what I can tell, he joined that unit in Pennsylvania, which was formed in Pittsburgh, PA. James apparently moved around a lot. In the 1860 census, he was living in Jackson Township, Huntingdon County, PA. In the 1870 census, he was living in Union Township, Mifflin County, PA. By 1880, he was living in the 7th Ward in Altoona, PA. I personally suspect that James was born in Huntingdon County, PA. I have found two James Watsons in the 1850 census that are the same age, and can not tell which one is mine. I would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who might be able to shed any light or may even be related! Thanks, Debbie Fisher

Hello, I am thinking of setting up a new site that will list all war graves in Britain on the site with as many photos as possible. To do this I will need help of people like you, where if possible they see a war grave (very distinctive as they are white) and record the details on the grave, where it is (saint of church and location) and a photo if possible. A comment on the condition of the grave would also be nice. If you have any comments or can help me in anyway please email scottspencer_2004@yahoo.co.uk Thanks Scott -- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus (http://www.grisoft.com). I have a photo that I believe is Agnes Rae who came to the Illinois from Scotland in 1911. She married William Watson and lived at Farmington and Peoria, IL. I would like to contact any of her family. Joan, jchardi@aol.com
Looking for John Watson born July 17, 1848 (may have been closer to 1852) in Scotland, think in Glasgow or Ayrshire. He moved to the USA prior to 1979 when he married Mary Eleanor Barragree in Edwardsville, IL. Hugh Watson, believed to be John's brother. Born approximately 1852. He married Margaret ? (b. abt. 1852) in Scotland and had first child in Scotland. Family in 1880 census of Rhode Island. Two children also on census, Hugh S. Watson (b. abt. 1877) and Agnes Watson (b. 1880). Know Agnes later married a Norton, had a son Graham. Also Margaret and Hugh had at least one other son James H. Watson (b. abt. 1886). May have been third brother who went to New Hampshire named James Watson, born abt. 1845. My mother is the granddaughter of John J. Watson. Her father was James L. Watson. She remembers having contact with relatives in both Rhode Island and New Hampshire. Also looking for parents of John, Hugh, and James in Scotland. Father was James Watson and mother Agnes Laboudy (not positive of spelling). They never immigrated and probably both would have been born in the early 1800's.
GOD BLESS AMERICA! Hello! researching my connection to "isham watson"...does anyone have any info on his revolutionary service?? thanks for your time & assistance!!
