    3. Hi Listers, It is interesting to see this rootsweb more active again in recent days. I have been doing my family research for many years now, and I often come across interesting WATSON names that are not associated with me, but I have the peculiar feeling that someone somewhere is a Watson relative of famous and infamous Watsons who would be dying to know those facts. Some years ago I was residing in a small Ontario town near a smaller village of Doon and came across the home of an artist named HOMER RANSFORD WATSON, and as appreciator of Constable I was struck by his paintings, and even more so because I had never heard of his work. To date, I have not been able to uncover much of his family tree. Can anybody offer any knowledge of his tree? I believe he spent time in California too. If you would like to become familiar with his work, you can start at this site: http://www.mta.ca/faculty/arts/canadian_studies/english/about/study_guide/ar tists/homer_watson.html Also, I recently read a very good book about the final Franklin expedition to the Canadian arctic where it seems everyone died, and there too was another ordinary Watson a sailor, a Petty Officer, Carpenters Mate who met his end after dragging himself around the ice with Crozier et al. This Thomas Watson was born around 1808, as PRO in London's rolls listed as aged 40, before meeting his end abt May 30th 1848. Can anybody offer any knowledge of his tree? I have come across so many coincidences with my researching, it just makes me want to continue to complete a Watson history, alas I am to old to ever see the end of such research which brings me to my last question; Is there a person of Watson descent who could take up the challenge and start a website of Watson databases much like the Partridge Nest Worldwide database that is run by Dennis Partridge. (I know of this as Partridge is in my history too). His site has become the best repository of Partridge information around the world, and I would gladly try and assist anyone who could take on a similar responsibility for a Worldwide Watson & derivatives site. To see an example of Dennis' site; http://www.partridgenest.com/ Just a thought, we all need a localised database. Elijah Watson b. 1859 Georgia. Died shot off horse. Elisha Watson b. 1862 Rapides Parish, Louisiana. married Theodocia Legg. Other information on Reddick Watson, the 1830 census shows Reddick in Thomas County, Georgia with 5 male children and 3 female children. The 1840 Thomas co. Ga. census shows 4 male children 7 female children. I was only able to find information on Martha Jane Watson who married John Sloan. There could have been more female born to this union, but not for shure. It was common in those days to take on grandchildren and even children of relatives which may have made the # females increase in the 1840 census. I only show 3 in my records. I was not able to find Reddick sons Joseph and David Watson in Louisiana I assume they stayed in Georgia or Alabama. 3. I am searching for the family of my 4th great grandmother, Nancy Watson born in 1808. She was most likely born in Kentucky. I suspect she was a daughter of a James Watson, as a James Watson was surety of her marriage in 1828. I suspect also that she was a sister or aunt to Mary Ann Watson who married Ezekiel Beuer/Beavers. Also possibly related to Lurany Watson who married Joseph Pearson. Why do I think they are connected? Two reasons---they were all in Kentucky and they are have the name Lurany connected to them somehow. Of course there was Lurany that married the Pearson, but my 4th great grandmother had a daughter named Lurany. Also, Mary Ann Watson Beavers/Beuer had a daughter named Lurany. Mary Ann's surety of age at marriage was also James Watson. Both Mary Ann and my Nancy were married in Calloway Co., KY. If any of this sounds familiar to anyone or someone know a relative of this family, please let me know. Thank you. Justin Richardson ===== Justin L. 3. Hi Frederick Powell, Sr., I don't have a Margaret as the daughter of Reddick Watson. I do have a Reddick Watson who married Rebecca Bryant in Duplin County North Carolina in 1809. They left North Carolina and went to Thomas County, Georgia by 1830 census. They lived in Thomas County Georgia until shortly after 1850, then moved to Alexanderia, Louisiana. Reddick and Rebecca lived out their lives in Alexanderia and were burried in the Watson-Hayman Cemetary, which is located on the reservation of Fort Polk, Louisiana. This Reddick Watson was my gggandfather! 3. I am searching for ANY information concerning JOSEPH WATSON and his wife CATHERINE HANNAH (HAWTHORN, WELLBELOVE) WATSON who lived at 7 Priory Street, Risca, Monmouthshire ca, 1914. Joseph, it has been said within family, had been a member of the Coldstream Guards on the household guard of Queen Victoria. Catherine worked at Windsor Castle also as a cook for Queen V. It is possible that Joseph would have adopted Catherine's 4 children by a previous marriage to WELLBELOVE and that Joseph-Catherine's marriage may have been between 1908-1913. Any information appreciated greatly. Please contact through gdwatson@accesscable.net TIA. Cheers, Gordon D. Watson Dartmouth, Nova Scotia CANADA

    1. [WATSON] Robert James Watson 1881 & 1891
    2. Chris Woods
    3. Good afternoon, This is my first visit to this site. I am researching a great uncle Robert James Watson He was born 7th. February 1876 in Highgate, Middlesex. I believe from his C.V. that his father was o romHartford and his mother from Cornwall, but these are unconfirmed. I cannot find him in my LDS 1881 census however the original 1881 Census gives a James R. Watson age 5 of 14 Cumberland St. Islington, London, whose father was a George Watson, birth place Barkway, Hertford In the 1891 census the son appears as Robert Watson living in Hackney with his parents, so probably the 1881 census contains a typographic error in reversing is Christian names on that occassion. The 1871 Census gives young George (then 19) living at 15 Paul's Alley, St. Giles without Cupplegate, London In 1895 Robert James Watson joined the 2nd. Middlesex Volunteer Artillery. >From the great City of London archives he was then in 1900 a Corporal in the City of London Imperial Volunteers and sailed for South Africa, returning sick later that year. 13th. April 1901 he joined the 24th. Battalion Imp. Yeo. and sailed that month again for the South African campaign. By 1902/3 he was living in India, returning to England in the mid to late 1930s. I would be most interested to know if anyone has come across this family, and assumming that the above George is Robert's father (any suggestions about confirming this other than obtaining birth certificates etc. would be appreciated) Chris retired mariner Norfolk
