He joined in 1776, served under Capt. Richard Billup (Billufs??) in the VA Militia for 12 months, as a private. John died in 1824 and his widow applied for a pension on the 17th of May 1837 and was awarded an amount of $280.....$260 of it being "award" thru the 4th of September 1837 and a semi-annual allowance of $20 ending (thru) 4 Mar 1838. That's about all that can be gleaned from the record that would be pertinant to genealogy. It's recorded in Series M805, Roll 843, Image 363. File # W18258. Rose (Watson) Johns

While researching Revolutionary War Pension Applications, I found the above-named Watson. His application was pretty standard.....until I saw the listing of his children which appears to be the original torn out Bible page. I hope this helps someone. The pertinant information is: John Watson died in 1824. Hannah, his wife, was born about 1749 and was still alive in 1837. They were married in February 1776. The children listed on the Bible page were Mary born 10 Mar 1777; Joseph T. born 24 Oct 1778; John born3 Feb 1781; James born 8 Oct 1784; Letishe born 28 Mar 1786; Nancy G. born 22 July 1788; and Betsy born 20 Jan 1785. Can anyone claim this family? Rose
Hi Watson researchers. Since there are many of you out there I thought I would ask all of you about my brick wall of about ten years. She married in Meigs County, Ohio, August 21, 1859, to Daniel Milton Willis, my third Greatgrandfather. I would dearly love to find out who her parents were. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who knows anything at all about a Josiah Watson and lineage, 1830's approximately, Missouri or Ky. thanks, Mary Watson
Actually, it is 'fair to middlin' and it had to do with grading cotton, middlin' cotton was a better grade. Anyhow, that is where the expression originated. Dear Mary, Hello. Thanks very much for writing. My Sarah WATSON would have been in About 1620 but not sure where. Her husband was John KELLY and I don't yet have information on whether he was born in Ireland or England. His father was William O'KELLY and I believe that he was an immigrant...so little to go on yet. Bellinda In a message dated 11/20/2004 12:13:56 AM Central Standard Time, BeachLdy53 writes: Hi! In checking my WATSON'S, I have a Sarah Watson, born December 13, 1692, married a Thomas Shepard. Also have a Sarah Watson born June 03, 1721, daughter of Zachariah Watson, and Susan Moody. Do you have any other information on your Sarah Watson? Mary
I looking for a record of a John Watson - Wife Rebecca. They had a son Josiah Watson born 8 12 1834 in Stanbridge township, Canada. He married a Roselia Whittier (from the 1620 Thomas Whittier line). They lived in Granville Vermont and had five children Charles James, Guy Maryon, Nephi Manti, James William, Lydia Amelia. I'm also looking for any record of Charles James Watson in Australia. He was born Nov 24, 1866 and married a Forence Hill. He left Forence and their two children, Lillian and Elizabeth and went to Australia about 1900. He married an Emma Bickinstein in Australia and Had a Son Charles Howard Watson Abt 1905. He did become a British Subject in 1913 and died in 1915. Any further information on either Charles would be great. The last item I have on the son, is that a McDonald family was caring for him after his fathers death. Believe the mother Emma died in child birth. Any help with these Watson, no matter how slight would be greatly appreciated. Jack Dempsey
Your subject line includes Bodine and Watson's. I have Watson's and Bodine's in Ontario, Canada in the early 1800's. I'm looking for John and Elizabeth Watson who were there in 1860. In 1870 Elizabeth is in Franklin County, TN with three children: Riley, Wyatt, and Jane with no father. Later census information does list the children's father as having been born in Alabama and the mother Elizabeth as having been born in South Carolina. Thanks, Janine
