Hi Everyone My name is Ron Swezea. Born: 1947 Livingston, Tenn. I have been attempting to locate Maude Watson, born around 1855 possibilty in Jackson County Tenn. - she was married to Silas Scott Sweazea (aka Scott Sweazy/Swezea/Sweezy) in Jackson Co. Tn. She died in Jackson Co. Thie children included: Harley Swezea born:1885 Jackson Co Tn Bedford Clay Swezea Born: 1894 Jackson Co. Died 1927 Jackson co. Tn ( my grandfather) I know that there still Watson cousins found in middle Tennessee. I meet some when I was a child. For all researchers: I recommend that when someone is seareching for any family member that they list the place of birth, death and any children. This may help others to id the member. So many of the family members are named for cousins, aunt, uncles and grandparents.

In regards to the listing of "mu" in a census for the race of Native American, it was done. They were also listed as; freemen of color, and colored, it really depended on who was collecting the data as to what was listed.

Hi All- Would any of you have information on David WATSON, born 10-17-1783 in Calvert County, Maryland? I am more than reasonably sure he is g-g-g-grandfather. According to my research, David married Mary HELFENSTEIN / HELPHINSTINE in 1807 in Madison County, Ohio. They were the parents of Stephen WATSON who married Mary Agnes COLLINS (date?) and had at least 7 children -- but more likely eight: Francis E. b. 1854 Indiana Eliza b. 1856 Indiana married a WHITZEL and had a son, Isaac b. 1876 Iowa Sarah b. 1862 Indiana (twin sons) Christopher ("Tip" later in life) b. 1865 Indiana William b. 1865 Indiana Charlie b. 1870 Iowa Hiram Lewis ("Ben" later in life) b. 1874 Iowa Ben was my great grandfather. I have some pieces of info on this family, but I am very interested in what happened with the other family members, any clue about the departure from Indiana, etc. I believe these WATSONs were living in or around the Muncie, Indiana area before coming to Iowa. I am also trying to find out when this family came to the United States and from where. I hope something here rings a bell with any of you. Thanks for your help! Brad GREENWELL Ft. Worth, Texas USA

In a message dated 99-06-29 05:29:38 EDT, you write: << The children above are the younger ones. Zachary was married before to a Mollie (Mary Jane) OWENS or OWEN. >> I've been searching hard but have no connection for my Watson family background. Do you know if Zachary had any children by this Owens woman. My grandmother (Minnie Watson Neblett) was a Watson, born in the 1880 near Bivins TX to Emerson Watson and Anne Huddleston. She had a brother, Walter Owen Watson. Just wonder if the tie-in to the Owen name might have some meaning? This Watson family moved to Bossier Parish Louisiana just prior to 1900 I believe, to a sawmill town, where they ran a boarding house. Thanks, J A "Bear" Neblett
Hi, Another researcher found my Watson ancestor from the Civil War (George Washington Watson) in Johnston County, NC. I knew he lived in NC, but didn't know where in NC. He married Mary Tull and had one daughter before the war started. Here is the information on his Civil War status: George Washington Watson... State served - North Carolina,... Enlisted 25 Feb. 1862,... Enlisted rank - 3rd Lieutenant,... Age - 36,... Enlistment place - Johnston Co. NC,... Army - Confederate George Washington Watson stated at the time of his enlistment that he was a resident of Jonhston Co. NC and a farmer. He served in Company C 50th North Carolina Infantry. The other children that I know their names are: Sally, Anne, Alec or Elec or Alex, and William Franklin Watson (my GrGrandfather). Any help is GREATLY appreciated! Kellie

This family left Arkansas (possibly White County, AR) on Jan. 1, 1900. The parents are: Zachary WATSON (b. July 1847) and Sally or Sallie WALKUP WATSON Their children are: Charles Emmet WATSON Ed and EDNA WATSON (twins) Clyde WATSON Lockie WATSON Bruce WATSON Grace WATSON (married William Rowe and lived in Little Rock, AR by 1929) Boss WATSON (died in a Durant, OK nursing home) b. 1885, d. 1973 The children above are the younger ones. Zachary was married before to a Mollie (Mary Jane) OWENS or OWEN. When my ggrandfather died, this family claimed him but his last name is WALKUP. I don't know if Sally was married before and had Fred Gordon WALKUP or if she was possibly an older sister that took care of him. I am soooo confused. I had met Edna when I was about 12, but I didn't ask questions. She was Edna PARKER by then and living in Little Rock, AR. She introduced herself as Fred's sister. Fred's relatives on his obit. are all WATSON names. Charles Emmett WATSON had a daughter named Leona PHILLIPS that lived in Durant, Oklahoma but I believe she has passed away. Anyone out there who can help me? I am so tired of finding dead ends for this family. Someone is supposed to send me the marriage cert. for Sallie and Zachary but I have forgotten their marriage date.
