There was no Estill Co., VA in the 1790's nor since. Do you mean Essex County? There is an Estill Co., KY, but it wasn't formed until 1812.

My Grandfather Albert Horn and Ida Bell Watson were married and lived in Fannin Co., Texas from the 1890's to the 1960's. They were from Putnam Co., TN. There was living in Spotsylvania Co., VA, in the 1790's a Sherod Horn that may have been my gggg grandfather. I also noticed that some of my Watson's were living in Spotsylvania Co., in about that same time period. I do not know how close the Spotsylvania Co., was to the Estill Co., in the 1790's. I do not have a Paul Watson in my data base or a Jane Horn in my data base in that time period. There is a possibility that the Jane could have been a daughter of Sherod Horn. I don't suppose you know who Jane Horn's father could have been? Take care, Bob Horn Santa Fe TX Take care, Bob Horn Santa Fe TX
Hi Listers, I have a Jesse Watson, ggrandfather who married Susan (or Susanne) McEuin about 1843 in VA and moved to Carroll Cty, TN about 1850. I have death information on both in Gibson Cty, TN about 1875. Family stories say Jesse owned land in or near Petersburg, VA in the 1840s. Does anyone have anyone in their family that fits this? Any information at all about Jesse and Susan would be much appreciated. Thanks, :>) Marilou Watson Jacob

Hello Ruby, My Watsons also came from Kentucky but at this point I know little about them. What I do know is that Asa C. Watson married Margaret Trawick in Copiah Co., MS in 1854. Asa stated on the census that he was from KY. On his death certificate his parents were listed as William Watson and Janie Crain from KY. Maybe we can find a connectin in the future. Hi Sharon, Donna & Jay, Thanks for replying. My Watsons never were in VA. They left England on the ship Belle Wood in 1865 and went directly to the Missouri Valley. They were in Nebraska City, NE 1865-68; Peru, NE 1869-71; Hamburg, Iowa 1871-76; Pattonsburg, MO 1876-83; Tacoma WA 1884 til their deaths in 1896 and 1906. A number of descendents still are in Tacoma, where William had the first flour mill in the city. He had flour and sawmills, agricultural implement business, in the NE and IA locations. In Cockerham, Lancs, England they had silk mills. Except for the Mark Watson previously mentioned, I can account for almost all descendents of William and Anne, down to the present day. There was a nephew from England, Benjamin Sykes, living with them in the 1880 census (can't put my finger on my extract at this moment), but did not migrate west with the family, perhaps returned to England........ Still hoping to make a connection (:)) Good hunting!! Hi Mark, I am researching a Catherine L. Watson (my ggrandmother) who married Jesse Nolan Fate in Lewis, Cass county, Iowa on October 14th, 1880. I haven't yet discovered much about her other than her name, nickname (Cassie), and the marriage date. They lived near Stennett, IA and then Red Oak, IA, where they both died at home. I believe both locations are in Montgomery county. Their children were: Ina Mae Fate b 3-20-1882 d 8-1-1960 Cassie Ann Fate b 6-20-1883 d 7-13-1970 Seth Nolin Fate b 7-14-1884 d 8-28-1919 Ada Blanche Fate b 3-5-1886 d 9-20-1886 Grace Elizabeth Fate b 7-26-1887 d 12 24-1976 Daisy Agnes Fate b 3-21-1889 d 9-4-1976 James Martin Fate b 12-30-1890 d 5-24-1976 Oliver Forrest Fate b 12-20-1893 d 4-26-1970 Hazel Velma Fate b 10-16-1897 d 2-8-1974 Mark, If this helps with your Watson's in Iowa search, I have more information on descendents of this couple. Does anyone have any information on this Catherine L. Watson? Any help would be greatly appreciated. If anyone would prefer to contact me directly, my email address is: [email protected] . Hi Mark, This is *really* a long shot <gr>. I've been lurking on this maillist for some time, watching for Watsons from England and/or the Missouri Valley (mine came in 1866). Every time your name shows up, I think Wow! I wonder if he is related to my missing Mark Watson! I have a Mark Watson, nephew, Chainman, living with my grgrgrandfather, William Watson and wife Anne Webster Watson here in Tacoma, WA in about 1890. I have his Naturalization papers from Superior Court of Pierce County, WA, October 1892. And another city directory from about 1900, still living with his uncle, but now listed as an engineer. Then he just disappears. His uncle, my grgrgrandfather, was William Watson, born 1827 in Lancashire, England, married Anne Webster 1852 in Lancashire. Five children were born in England: Rebecca, John, George, Wm Jr, and two in the Missouri Valley (Peru, Nebraska), Anne, 1863 and James, my grandfather, 1869. Watson, Missouri is supposed to be named for William. I realize these are common names, but it sure gave me a start to see them here in a query! No Morris that I am aware of. William's parents were George and Mary, his siblings John, b 1826 and Rebecca, b 1833. Is anyone else researching Watsons from Lancashire? How about Hamburg, Iowa or Atchison County Missouri?
