Yes, Maura, I did contact the NYPD, via email. My message was forwarded to the personnel office and within a week I received a letter saying that they'd look into the records (actually have four NYC cops in my background, including my father). About two weeks later I received a nice letter with some information on all of them. As a result, I was able to get a few dates of death that I didn't have before.
